    Cost of hops

@Rodcx500z Given the price I would say English but a Google tells me the brand is US, so I’m none the wiser.

    Cost of hops

Wow! Where from if you don’t mind me asking? I paid £4.99 or so for 100g from lovebrewing a few weeks ago.

    Hello from Germany

Willkommen im forum, lad 😉 All you need is a 25-30 ltr plastic bucket to ferment in, nothing fancy, I still use them and have never had a problem. Before you invest in an all in one system give a simple brew in a bag a go on the stove. It is very simple (watch a YouTube video as when you see...

Cold Crash in addition to Finings? Anybody?

I’ve only ever cold crashed to drop out hops from heavily dry hopped beers before bottling so I don’t end up with too much crud in the bottom.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

My take on a juicy IPA, muchos citra 😁🍻

    Infections...how long to take hold

I’m really just too lazy to buy one 😂

    Infections...how long to take hold

I use a hydrometer so it’s easy to just run a bit off from the tap. I might get a refractometer one day but for now, I’m happy with my hydrometer. I normally have a jug with sanitiser in where I will put thermometers and other long bits. I grab the wrong one frequently when I use the other FV...

    Infections...how long to take hold

I do stuff like that all the time when I use my FV without a tap! Touch wood, never had a bad batch yet where that was the cause.

    BIAB Hop Additions

Use a fine mesh bag for the pellets. You can put the bag in the hop spider if you wish, but I just throw them in as I don’t mind a few extra IBUs in an IPA etc. Beer style and if it’s one just for me or for sharing would determine if I used a bag or not for pellets.

    Lager brewing

Köln is wonderful, I’ve always liked that you have to tell them to stop giving you beer there rather than you having to go and order it. We were in Krakow a few years ago and I don’t recall any decent beer scene, tbh I wasn’t really looking 😂

    Lager brewing

Have you had the unfiltered urquell? There is a bar we frequent in Neu Köln in Berlin that serves it. They get a delivery once a week directly from the brewery and it is without a doubt one of the best beers I’ve had the pleasure of drinking.

    Lager brewing

Yes it is a top fermenting yeast, it still drops to the bottom though when it’s done.

    Lager brewing

I’ve found that the longer you condition/lager it then any twang or non-beery flavour goes away. I’m not aware of a recipe that is grain to glass in weeks that’s any good to drink so young. Just a step you need to go through, one month of lagering is the earliest I would drink one but that’s...

    Lager brewing

Different bottle but same batch, you can see my fingers through it already. That will be off to the shed in a weeks time for at least a month before I try one. Just how I do it, I do have a batch that has been in there nearly 3 months so should be ready for sampling 😁

    Lager brewing

A bit yeasty still when so young. I use it for pilsners mostly. You can drink it once it’s carbed up but it’s not as good as if it’s had time to condition for a while, same for any beer. Pic is one I did a few weeks ago, been in the bottle for just over a week at room temperature. That MJ Cali...

    Lager brewing

It’s a funny old yeast. It drops clear after about a week in the bottle at room temperature. I find lagering for a month or two does help with the clearing up process of the yeast cake at the bottom of the bottle and overall quality of the final conditioned beer. It is quite drinkable after a...

How many litres of home brew have you made 2021.

    Self parking cars.

It is certainly squeaky bum hole time the first few goes. I find it’s brilliant in those car parks with tiny spaces at airports and some supermarkets, or for parallel parking on the street.

    Self parking cars.

My beemer can do that of sorts, parking is fully automated as is the pulling out from a parked position. I know there is an option on the 7 series that does everything automatically from outside the car using the smart key (like that Tuscon). I just have the lowly park assist plus on mine haha...

If you could only take one beer with you to a desert island what would it be?

Hard to choose between either a good old Paulaner hefeweizen or Russian River’s Pliny the Elder double IPA. I would swim the Atlantic and walk across the states to have the Pliny again.
