    Pump needed to whirlpool

What flow rate do I need a pump to whirlpool. I added a whirlpool port to my BK recently and did a brew a few days ago connected up my mp-15r (the 40-50£ ones from China) to the port and nothing happening. Is the flow rate too low from this pump think it’s rated 8-12 L/min. Also do you find...

    Dedicated kettle - worth it?

I use a 3 vessel system, and find it much better than the one and two vessel systems I have used in the past. I’m not an electrician but I often run 3 x 3 kw elements (when using 2 boil kettles) at once from extension cables plugged into separate plugs, and not had a problem, think it equates to...

    Cleaning plate chiller

Any advice how to get rid of hop particles from plate chiller. 2 brews ago, I didn’t use the hop spider and got some hop matter in my plate chiller. I cleaned it after use with chemclean. I now have small bits of hop stuck in it. I have ran hot tap water through it, I have recirculated hot...

    Controlling Fermenter Temperatures

thanks for the advice, I’m thinking long term about getting maxi chiller, just wanted to see if I could set something up that would work before investing in a maxi chiller. From what I’ve read most people add stainless steel directly inside the fermenter, I wanted to try and keep away from this...

    Controlling Fermenter Temperatures

is there any designs for this? I will look into doing this for my plastic fermenters, to give option of doing 2 at a time which will be useful. I would still struggle to get the 100 litre in there as it sits on a stand as it has a slight conical bottom with an outlet on the base thanks for...

    Controlling Fermenter Temperatures

I like the idea of a cooling jacket, plus it gives me an option to ferment 2 at a time. if it works as desired in the future I may consider investing in a maxi cooler I have connected the lay flat hose to the pond pump and put in a bucket of water to see how it runs. The main issue is the hose...

    Controlling Fermenter Temperatures

Evening I’m looking to create a chiller for my fermenter. And would value peoples thoughts. I currently have a brew fridge that works well for the standard plastic fermenters. I have a 100 l stainless steel pot that I’m using as a fermenter. I’m looking to do as cheap as possible, and don’t...

    Fermentation Temperature

Ah yes, for some reason I was thinking that a water jacket was just for cooling. However I assume they must heat and cool as well. I don’t know why i didn’t think this myself! Thanks for your reply

    Fermentation Temperature

How do breweries maintain heat in their fermenters. I know they keep the temperature down with chillers and glycol during fermentation. However after fermentation is over and they leave on primary or secondary to condition how do they keep temperature at 18/19c?

    Yeast starter with old yeast

Thanks for your replies, wish I’d used it earlier and not put the brewing on hold. Ive already got my order delivered, and my local brew shop has closed down. I think I might try to get hold of some yeast from Wilkinson’s so that I can still brew on Wednesday

    Yeast starter with old yeast

I’ve not been brewing for quite a while, but starting back up again and planning on brewing on Wednesday. I’m after your thoughts on a yeast starter I’ve had a whitelabs WLP001 yeast in the fridge for some time, I think the date of manufacture was May 2018. I was optimistic and have made a 2...

    Stc-1000

Yeh that’s what i thought! Would the one I have work ok if I only wanted to heat or cool, could I use it with my kettle so I could switch it off just before it got to boiling in case I wasn’t watching it, I’m assuming not with it been 12v

    Stc-1000

Ive just received an STC-1000 that I ordered, I fear I may have ordered the wrong thing, there seems to only be one output on the back it was intended to be used on my brew fridge for hot and cold. Is there anything I can do with it or should I send it back and order one with 2 outputs? Also...
