Another dreaded "has my fermentation finished?" thread.

Does seem to finish quite high. Is it very sweet. Have you checked your hydrometer in water. How old was your yeast. How much yeast and what size is the fermenter.

    Bad bottle? (bottle bomb)

I had a bottle explode on me a few weeks ago. I have concluded that it was because I hadn’t stirred the sugar solution in. I added it to my bottling bucket and syphoned in the beer but never stirred it in. A lot of bottles are quite flat, I’ve concluded that it’s because I didn’t stir and the...

    Dirty bottles!

I use Chemclean, soak in hot water over night. Used it on mouldy and stained bottles with good results.

    Infra red light

I’d always wondered why some companies bottled in clear bottles, whilst kept on a shelf in a shop

    Infra red light

I’d never given much thought to skunking before, I was never overly conscious about keeping them covered and mainly kept bottles in the garage, which only has a small window. Recently I drank 2 bottles, they were from the same batch and both tasted totally different, one from a clear bottle and...

    Half opened packets of hops

Couple months ago I made a random brew, had various types of old grain and several types of hops that had been opened a while and mashed with all the random grain and added all the hops to the boil. End result turned out very nice

    Canning Thread

I’d been thinking it would be pretty cool to have your beer in a can, I’ve been giving quite a bit away lately, think it would be pretty cool in a can. But like the comments say may not be practical or may not work that well within a budget I would spend on one. Hope you find something suitable

    Priming bottles with a syringe

Doesn’t really matter, I add enough water so the sugar can be dissolved. For my last one maybe added 150-200ml water

    Priming bottles with a syringe

I make my sugar/water mix pour into a granulated cylinder for an accurate measurement and divide the volume by number of bottles Definitely easier than batch priming less cleaning, transferring the wort between vessels takes longer than it does to add solution to bottles using syringe, and no...

    granulated sugar

I believe it will just ferment out the same as other sugar in the wort and you would prime as normal

    Steamy hot humping help wanted

How do you cool the boil? If you brew outside, could you cool outside? You could make a cheap immersion chiller if you can run water outside and split into 2 smaller fermenters, that way your only carrying 2 10L fermenters up stairs

    Steamy hot humping help wanted

Something like this and you could connect up a hose and put it out of the window. https://www.home-brew-online.com/equipment-c40/speidel-stainless-steel-hood-for-20-litre-braumeister-p3173 I don’t know much about the system other than it’s expensive, I’m sure there are other less expensive...

    Digital flow meters

I’ve thought about something like this, I have a sight glass on my hlt so can control what does into the mash, but can’t measure what come out of my mt and adding into a jug is just a faff and adds to splashing when putting in the kettle. The cheaper ones don’t seem that accurate. I’d be...

    Cctv cameras..

When getting a camera consider the clarity at night, when viewed during the day they may appear clear, but without any lighting at night time the night time vision can be rubbish.
