Best way to get a label off a bottle

This is mine I use a cheap 'Workmate' type foldable bench to put it on for bottling and I think that only cost me a tenner and bottling is not its sole use/

Best way to get a label off a bottle

I think mine was sub £20 and was definitely a good buy. No more fear of breaking bottle necks and slashed wrists athumb..

    New Fridge Fermentation Setup

Just a point. If you are controlling cooling and heating through the inkbird, when it calls for heat, then the compressor will not run and the freezer section will defrost. If I remember correctly to have fully independent control between fridge and freezer, the FF would have to be a twin...

Another sneaky taster last night. This is going to be difficult to keep my hands off!

    Small Batch Irish Stout?

After 2 weeks carbing @ 20c, I moved the bottles to a cooler location for conditioning, however, as always, curiosity got the better and I popped of the cap of a bottle. This is a very very nice dry stout, which I will be interested to see how it develops with time. Happy brewer clapa

What was your first step towards AG?

After 6 kits and after reading the now famous 'Have a go' thread, I moved to the dark side. I am only 2 brews in but so impressed with the end results. I do full volume BIAB aiming for 11.5L into the fermenter.

    Induction Hobs

Yep, my set-up is simply an insulated pot for BIAB mashing and then boiling. The induction hob does have a degree or so of control over different temperatures/power but to be honest, for the mash, it holds its heat just fine with the induction hob off.

    Burco Cygnet quality?

Have a look at my thread here where I asked about induction hobs. In particular @Drunkula reply should answer your question.

    Burco Cygnet quality?

Mine is 2kw (after a bit of advice from here) and while S/H, it only cost me £40. The pot was less than £50. Again not new but complete with tap I reckon its a good set up. The induction hob is really good at controlling the temps.

    Burco Cygnet quality?

How about a bigger stockpot and an induction hob? That's what I am moving over to for BIAB

A bit of a 'Tom Caxton' experiment

Hi @An Ankoù I agree that the kit yeast may be OK but its the not knowing......... I didn't expect to go back to kits but SWMBO has effectively banned me from the kitchen with regards to AG as she 'doesn't like the smell' asad.. I bought an induction hob to brew in the garage but my stockpot...

A bit of a 'Tom Caxton' experiment

Although I have recently been successfully doing some 'dark side' AG small batches, the downside is that my stocks of finished beer has reduced, so while in town, I popped into Wilko's to see what kits they had that I could use to build the bottle stock, back up with. Although I would rather...

    Water Bath Question

Thanks all. I will try a 5ppm solution to see its effect on the biofilm that forms.

    Water Bath Question

Hi @darrellm, The water is more often than not, in the bath for 4 weeks (2 weeks with FV the 2 weeks with bottles) and I have noticed that the bottles become almost slimy when I take them out, and need washing off before conditioning. I am assuming that the warm water is 'growing' stuff so...

    Water Bath Question

I use a 65L plastic storage box for my water bath, with 2 aquarium heaters. This is put into service for fermenting in FV's (it will take 2) as well as carbing up bottles and works really well. However, to ensure the water stays 'healthy' I have been using the Chemsan solution, made up to...
