    Stout hasn't reached final gravity

Since no-one else said it I'm gonna do it. 1.052-1.014 for a stout/porter isn't something I consider out of the ordinary. I don't think you'd find many commercial (English) stouts or porters attenuated much over 75%

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

The variety "Gamla Källmon" is harvested, dried and put in the freezer. "Böle" is probably ready in a week. Gonna treat them a little different next summer, instead of cutting down the first shoots I'll just let them grow up and when they start getting large cut down all except the...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Thank you! Both Stockholm and Oslo are about 1000km south of me so I'm pleasantly surprised it works this well. I guess the constant daylight during summer plays a large role in why a lot of stuff is actually possible to grow up here, and why the lingonberries and blueberries up here get juicer...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

@531Man The two smaller ones are 2-year plants, Böle and Korsta, will probably give a small yield this year but enough for a batch of bitter hopped with each kind to taste test. The larger one is a 3-year plant and will likely give a fairly good harvest. Called Gamla Källmon and is a heritage...

    Hazelwood’s Brewday Part 2

Looking nice! I brewed yesterday but have decided not to brew for a while now, unless I time it during a period of cooler, rainy weather. We've had fairly warm weather for the past 2 weeks with temps steady around 25c, and it just gets too warm in the kitchen to brew, I think the kitchen was...

If we just ignore it, maybe it'll go away?

    Kegerator build

I looked it up a bit more. Essentially, if your fridge has all the machinery and cooling coils at the back, you can make holes in the side walls, if not use caution. There may be a thermostat cable running in the sidewalls(mine is going inside the insulation in the ceiling of the fridge).

    Kegerator build

Yeah I know, since that would heat up the fridge and force the compressor to work harder and consume more energy.

    Kegerator build

Yeah I belive you, I just have never experienced it myself or heard of anyone I know who brews over here who have experienced it either, wich makes me wonder if it's some UK specific standard or something. As someone else posted those pipes are often found at the back of the fridge with the...

Are you guys using over-under fridge/freezer combos or dedicated fridges?

If you are worried you should be able to use the model number to find some schematics for the fridge you intend to use, never hurts to double and triple-check...😅

    Kegerator build

I can honestly say I've never encountered a fridge with tubing in the sidewalls and/or the door, freezers are a bit different though. Perhaps standards for UK fridges are different than our Swedish ones, but the main reason kegerators are recommended over keezers here are that you can put holes...

    Kegerator build

A refrigerator usually has no tubing and wiring in the walls or "roof", it's all in the back and underneath. A freezer is a bit more sketchy regarding that though as they may have cold medium tubes running in the walls, especially older ones...

    Kegerator build

I used the old fridge that was in the kitchen when we moved in, the built in thermostat was giving up but that doesn't matter since you bypass it anyway. A tip is to place a small fan of some kind in there to get some cirkulation and an even temperature inside. So don't hesitate to use an old...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I checked my crowns a few days ago, they were looking fine and will likely start shooting bines in a few days. This spring has been really slow though and we only started to get some proper spring temperatures a few days ago, still have some small spots of snow on the ground, wich is late even...
