    B&M kits

'I'm no expert but I would have thought the hop aroma/flavour would be reduced quite a bit by Xmas.' Why'd you say that mate? I've done a few IPA kits and after 5-6 months they've been fantastic. 'Once you have one or 2, I doubt you'll be able to keep them that long anyway.' Possibly lol...

    B&M kits

I've just bottled my IPAs. I did two kits upto 20L and exactly as per instructions except I left in fermenter for 14 days and lobbed the hops in day 11. I've got high hopes for this, looks clear as a bell already, lovely aroma. I'll have a few bottles in a month, but hiding the rest in the shed...

    B&M kits

I asked in my local B&M if they were going to continually restock these kits. The manager told me he had no idea. Stock arrives, they display it and sell it he said. Has anyone actually tasted the real ale yet? We may be missing a treat if the IPA and lager are as good as reports suggest.

    Brewing\pressure barrel?

I think I've tried everything with the exception of a corny set up. Tap a draft (If that's what the big brown bottle thingy is called), PBs (standard Wilk0's and top tap King keg with all the bells and whistles), CO2 injection and tap for mini kegs and of course bottling. After spending much...

Do you brew alone or in company

Saturday morning I'm brewing with the eldest lad, we bought a grainfather a while ago. The grainfather seems to have found permanent residence at his house so I'll be there early doors so we are done before the match. We used to share the bottling, share the brew etc. Unless it's wheatbeer as...

    Easy Keg 5L

Apologies for suddenly disappearing from the thread and the site. I somehow managed to get run over whilst I was walking on the pavement and I've had a lifetime of hospital and physio which curtailed all things home brew related. Great to see my little question roused so much interest...

    B&M kits

I've been out of the hobby for a while, following an accident which laid me up in hospital for a while then lots of physio, but spotted the kits in a local B&M today so bought two of the IPAs. I googled looking for a review of the kit and it lead me here. Looking forward to getting back in the...

    Easy Keg 5L

Gents, quick note to say I've not abandoned the thread or the site, just been incredibly busy. Daughter-in-law has been very ill, so all my time has been spent juggling work with son along with babysitting, so drinking and brewing out the window. On a positive note, I'll have lots of nicely...

    Easy Keg 5L

The hobgoblin ones are different. They aren't reusable I'm afraid. They need a good old fashioned demolishing to remove. Just be careful not to warp the top of the keg when you're getting it out. Sorry, meant to say, the vent plugs aren't reusable, the keg obviously is.

Thanks wfr/Lesinge. Yeah, the lot went down the drain. I do fancy trying this again though, so thanks for getting back to us, with positive thoughts.

    Xmas Present - Help Required!

I have nothing to add other than, what a lovely present and if you decide you'd rather live with a pot bellied, middle aged, short sighted, accident prone walking disaster, and would like to make him a brew shed, then I'm all ears.

    Easy Keg 5L

It's not seen any action as of yet. Three of the four bottles are filled with a Coopers Stout and conditioning at the moment. I'll give that a hammering come Christmas time. I'll report back then. It's already clear that there are some advantages to it over mini-kegs, likewise some...

    Easy Keg 5L

I found the OSH from the kegs to be as flat as a super models belly after a couple of pints. I would have liked a little bit more, guess it isn't possible. I thought the carb level was to a Stout level. Or how I like Stout carbed anyway. I know what you mean about lacking flavour too clibit, I...

    Youngs Harvest Scottish Heavy

Had my first homebrewing disaster today. Prepared everything, all going smoothly, emptied this can into FV. Filled can with hot water, poured into FV, stirred the bugger like crazy and in the process, smacked draining board with my elbow. Up went flying a washing up brush (used for dog bowls)...

I wouldn't have wanted them for free! How they were still intact is beyond me. edit - sorry just realised what you meant. I should have asked for free replacements, i'm not normally backward in coming forward. oh well, I missed a trick there.
