    Anna's Brewdays

It seems like quite a lot of effort when the point of a kit is to make it easier.I am probably going to get slated here but what the hell. It says to use either malt extract or 850 grams of dextrose in the Mangrove Jack’s recipe. Well I made the juicy ipa twice. Once with malt extract and once...

    Dry hopping

My son just came into the kitchen and asked incredulously why I was boiling a large pebble and cutting up a pair of tights. Dry hopping I said. He rolled his eyes and walked out without saying a word. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Disappointing efficiency

I used toquite often add a little bit of sugar. I have to say however that since I moved from brew in the bag to the BrewMonk my efficiency has gone up considerably also I found my efficiency was better using crafty maltsters malts particular the Pops pale ale. My efficiency definitely went up...

Adding fruit tincture to cider kit

I used Lowics to secondary carbonate I also added some sugar free squash to some of the bottles. Tasted both and the ones with squash tasted more like the real thing.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

no you don’t. That’s part of why they hate it because it is salty, if you’ve ever put salt on a slug you’ll know why, They also don’t like the texture when it dries. But it doesn’t harm the plants at all and eventually rots down as fertiliser. So win win all round.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Are you anywhere near the sea. Slugs hate seaweed. Just place it round the base of the plant. Fertilises too!

Low cost all grain hoppy IPA recipe?

I would also echo the post above - grow your own hops. Not only are the hops essentially free after the first year but they also have an absolutely fantastic smell because they are so fresh.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Last year I planted cascade and centennial hops. However the labels have faded. They have now come back up again. One plant has more purplish bines and one is greener and growing faster. Can anyone who is growing these tell me which is which?

    Poor Clarity with Added Hops

I also find that some yeasts drop clear much quicker than others. FYI My MJ Juicy did drop clear however when I use crossmyloof 5 everything seems to drop clear very quickly even if I don’t want it to!

The Malt Miller AG Kits help please

The beauty of BIAB is it can be very simple. You don’t even need to sparge. So if you merely put your grain in a bag, mash in roughly 33 litres of water and remove your bag you will have delicious beer. For the first AG You don’t need to know exactly what losses you get from where, just that...

    N00b in need of help

You don’t need all of the above. The instructions for a Ritchies kit say to Add the sachet of liquid malt contained in the kit plus 1kg of dextrose brewing sugar or for improved results 1kg of beer enhancer. so you should either add 1kg brewing sugar or any combination of malt enhancer and spray...
