I always use the Cooper's calculation (OG - FG) / 7.46. 1060 - 1014/ 7.46 = 6.1%, then add 0.5 for priming. I've seen the other calcs, but this was my first and has stuck with me.

Tried my first bottle now that it's 6 weeks old. Not too bad at all. It has a head on it; a first ever for any stout I've made. Chocolate aroma, roasty and not too bitter, taste doesn't linger long. This will age well.

Enjoyed a selection from Hawkshead Brewery ; Helles, Pale, Porter and Stout. (thanks @Fuzzy Growler for posting their deals!). Followed by a couple of double measures of Laphroaig.... Goodnight... Hic
