    BIAB pale ale with Citra.

Wow that's quite some efficiency when others struggle to get 65% with BIAB, maybe mashing without the bag then filtering through the net curtain is better than doing the mash in the bag. Food for thought! Is that with pre-crushed grain or do you crush your own? If it's pre-crushed where did...

    New ag equipment

Did you chill a full kettle from boiling? If so how long did it take? Saving up for an AG system and tempted by one of these, the interface looks really user friendly.

    Newbie from New Zealand

Kia ora dblkayak! I spent over 6 years living in Wellington, any NZ related homebrew questions let me know. The Brewhouse on Riddiford St is an ace homebrew shop btw if you've not discovered it yet.

    Weyermann Carafa 3 substitute

To answer Clint's question yes blackprinz is the Briess equivalent to Carafa III and is a debittered black malt, a straight substitute. Midnight wheat also is a sub but milder flavour according to Briess. But yes lots of ways to brew black IPA and all the ways mentioned above make good beer...

    Commercial NEIPA and Saison

For a new world take on Saison I found Saison Sauvin by 8 wired brewing really good. By no means traditional but a good mix of hop and yeast character. I've seen it online on beerhawk and honest brew. Not found a true NEIPA yet!

    Kit Styles

I've not tried Zot Blonde but the only kit that might be quite close is the Festival World Belgian Pale Ale. Brewferm do lots of good Belgian styles and the closest of these would probably be the gold kit but some have reported it's a little bland. As for a honey beer why not try adding honey...

    Session IPA - summer beer

Pacific Jade is a good hop for pepper notes, has been good in saisons for me for that reason. Combining it with something really citrussy would work. I love munich in IPAs but for a session one I'd use vienna as it's lighter, or a lower percentage of munich. If you go for crystal I'd...

The annual wetherspoons spring world beer festival

I've tried a few too over the last week, a real mixed bag. First was the Daleside Thai.P.A which was really dominated by a blast of lemongrass, for me it was a novelty beer and was glad I'd only got a third pint taster. Next was a Mauldons Blackberry Porter which was an OK porter with a syrupy...

New World Hops for Belgian Styles

Several NZ hops I've used go really well in hoppy ales with Belgian yeast. Nelson Sauvin is intense and unique and Pacific Jade's flavour is good in a Saison. Motueka is well suited (they used to call it Belgian Saaz as it's a descendant of Saaz and a Belgian brewery used it) and I really...
