    Acid choice

Hi all Was interested in knowing which acid people normally use for their water treatment. I've always used CRS however I'm thinking of trying phosphoric or lactic to get a little more control. I understand the benefits of using CRS in some instances however feel as though it might be useful to...

    Pressure barrel tap suggestion

Thank you both for your replies. I've tested it at 15 psi with a pump and only the tap leaks. I'll buy a new tap - for sure the one I've got has a failed o ring - and crack on. Cheers

    Pressure barrel tap suggestion

Hi all What kind of tap would you recommend for an old style Wilko pb? I'm using it for pressure fermentation so want it to handle 15 psi or so. From what I've read, it seems that people put up with leaks on these things - is it reasonable to expect no leakage? Also, what psi do you guys...

Inkbird STC 1000 NTC Sensor extension

Extending is fine. You wouldn't even an ohms resistance. As an example, The difference between 24 and 25 degrees is 395 ohms

Wilko pressure barrel as pressure fermenter

A picture telling a thousand words and all that... You can see the leak from both the tap part and where the two parts of the body connect It's only a small leak. That's at 12.5psi and despite the leak, it's holding it quite well. Still I can't be dealing with that

Wilko pressure barrel as pressure fermenter

As an update, I've attached a ball lock post to mine. Have an issue with the tap leaking, the rest seems fine at seven psi or so. Have lubed the tap and it leaks from the barrel of the tap where the two pieces join. It's an old style Wilko pb. Can anyone recommend a good replacement tap that...

Wilko pressure barrel as pressure fermenter

Part of the reason I'm reluctant. I've had one sitting around here for years but couldn't be bothered using it due to the hassle and likelihood of failure. How would you go about hooking up a spunding valve? Is it easier to remove the S30 valve or connect to it?

Wilko pressure barrel as pressure fermenter

Higher temps are possible as pressure fermentation suppresses esters

Wilko pressure barrel as pressure fermenter

Hi all Am keen to give pressure fermenting a go. More as an exercise than anything else. Has anyone done this? If so, is it worth the hassle? Cheers Ron

    New CML yeasts

This was the ticket. Steve has responded already. He reckons it'll handle 10% no worries which is around about where this one will sit. Seems to recall another brewer getting 12% out of it. I'll report back my findings. These blokes are a real pleasure to deal with.

    New CML yeasts

I've just finished a dry stout with beoir. I'm thinking of using the yeast cake for a 10%er. The CML website gives fairly generic guidance as to maximum abv but what I want to know is how far you guys have pushed this one...

    Water boiler/Urn Concealed element

Looks similar to the one I have - albeit mine is the 30l. My element failed so I've installed an exposed element as close as I can to the bottom. The elements aren't really replaceable for the concealed type. I just clip the bag over the top, it's easiest if the bag is the right size though...

    Shipping on GeterBrewed

Hopefully the allowance does come up. I'm using them for the first time and 30kg would allow me to buy specialty grains with the same order which is helpful. At a limit of 27kg this is difficult

    Shipping on GeterBrewed

Hi Guys, About to place my first order on Geterbrewed. According to the shipping page it should be £6.75 to the UK. At checkout it keeps coming back as £12.70 - have deleted a few things to make sure I'm 100% under 30kg to no help. Naturally, tried to call but couldn't get thru or leave a...
