Lacto infection... in my coffee maker?

I ended up getting a Delonghi Dedica to replace mine. It's fantastic. you can vary the temperature and length of shot, plus it squeezes into a tiny spot. I love it so much I bought another one for work!

Lacto infection... in my coffee maker?

I stopped using a stovetop one because of that exact flavour. The inside of the water chamber was all gnarly, as if it had corroded and I always thought that might have been the issue.

    Infection? Getting worried

Almost guarantee that's hops. Don't worry about it.

    Garden Centres

Yes they'll germinate no problem. Also chili seeds from dried chilis or chili flakes will too.

    Kveik

I've just received my Oslo from that seller. I think I'll have to wait for it to warm up a bit before trying it out though. Do you have a recipe planned? I have a dehydrator, so once I've used it I'm going to try drying it for future use/distribution amongst us lot.

    Garden Centres

I know of one in Essex that's just reopened, they got a letter from their council. Maybe it depends on the district?

I'm in. Haven't brewed a kit in over 35 years, would be good to try again!

    Finally bought an RO system

Yeah, that is a lot. I did wonder how well an RO would cope with our insane levels of hardness. Considering just buying water from an aquarium shop once lockdown is over..

    Corny keg gas issues

    That’s awesome if somewhat pricey!

The thinner line is to reduce the flow, so that you don't have to have an enormous length of 3/8. To have a decent pour with 3/8 line you'd need 274 foot of line. At 3/16 you only need 10 foot. https://www.kegerators.com/beer-line-calculator/

    Co2 fridge pressure

Yeah it was the temp. I keep it outside now because I've stuffed the fridge with more cornies so there's no room for it any more!

    Co2 fridge pressure

Mine did that too, freaked me right out. Now it's outside the fridge it is back to 500 where it was before.

    Oxygenate

That's really interesting. So even if making a starter up from dry yeast, it sounds like it would be advantageous to rehydrate it in plain warm water before pitching into the starter wort?

Is this a spoiled beer batch ?

Yeah, that and the first time you dry hop and see a slick of oil on top of your beer and freak out. Now it literally makes my mouth water!

Is this a spoiled beer batch ?

Literally everyone goes through this. It's a rite of passage! Those are almost certainly yeast rafts. By the way, despite what it says on the tins, it usually takes a lot longer than 5 days for fermentation to finish (I generallly leave it for 2 weeks). Any time you disturb the brew in those...

    Finally bought an RO system

No I don't.. do you need one to use the RO? I do have a stand alone softener that I use for my commercial dishwasher at work, I reckon I could use that if necessary.....

    strawberry and lime cider

Hmm might have to give that one a miss then! Thanks for the info.

    Finally bought an RO system

Ah right, thanks for the info. I too get a weird smell from the water (only sometimes though), it is a musty kind of odour. It's particularly bad in the star san bottle like you mentioned. That's from straight tap water (though I boil it before brewing with it).

    strawberry and lime cider

Does the Lowicz syrup ferment out fully? Just checked the ingredients and it contains glucose-fructose syrup, a sugar which I am spectacularly intolerant of (think lactose intolerance x 10000). If it all gets converted to alcohol I'll be safe..

    Corny keg gas issues

I've never used sugar to carbonate in a keg (I don't see the point, why not use the CO2 for that and not have cloudy beer?).. But your pour depends on the length of your line and how much CO2 is in your beer. Following advice from on here, I use 3/8 to 3/16 to 3/8. I have about 2 inches of 3/8...
