You would think so wouldn't you, at least in theory. However practically, allowing for some headroom to prevent spillage/boilover etc and to allow for a margin, 40ltrs is just pushing the boundaries. Also btter to have a little wort over than to be short.

My first car was a 998cc Austin Mini Cooper. Not the more common Cooper S which had the 1275cc engine. Mushroom with a white roof, what colours we had back in the '70s. OK to 85 MPH but faster than that was pushing such a small engine. Acceleration was good with the twin 14mm carburettors though.
