    Recommended Hop Combinations

I've bought four packs of new to me hops. I've had them in commercial beers but never brewed with them. I have some fairly bland stuff I want rid of so I'm going to make some hop teas with the new hops to add to that beer as I drink it. I'll do all single hops then maybe starting combining them...

Good stuff! If you're liking kits you'll love all grain!

Latest gender pay gap BS could cost Tesco 4 Billion

It can be quite difficult to find work in UK oil and gas, however it seems the only qualification required for a large number in that sector is the ability to breath. :?:

Latest gender pay gap BS could cost Tesco 4 Billion

If two people do the same job they should be paid the same money. However after 6 months, a year, 10 years whatever. Those two people doing the same job, if one is crap and the other is good then the person that works better, harder and more efficient should get pay rises to suit their work...

I pull my hair out quite regularly due to similar situations! Very infuriating. Some people just don't give a toss and are usually the first in line for promotion

    Mini keg conditioning time

Maybe that's the case normally, i dont know. Ive never used cornies and only had a few mini kegs, all of those were fine from the keg and bottle. But maybe for mellowing out undesirable flavours it works different.

    Mini keg conditioning time

I'd never given a thought before. Cornies are 19l and pretty quick to condition though are they not? Brewers friend suggests 3 days after force carbing. Ah well, I'll not be using cornies any time soon and now know to leave mini kegs a little longer, particularly if there is grassiness or...

Coopers Bottles? Good or Bad please help

The 740ml does seem daft but I quite like them now. It means fewer bottles and less time bottling. I pour them in to two pint glasses with nice big heads on each.

No caffertia/french press for hop tea

. Good idea! I'll check the forecast for a suitably rainy and windy day

Coopers Bottles? Good or Bad please help

Interesting about the under carbed. I've been putting it down to poor mixing at batch priming. I'm interested to see how carbonation compares on the glass bottles I've just filled.

No caffertia/french press for hop tea

I said to SWMBO I'd make a hop tea for bottling a SMASH at the weekend. She knows I make hop teas in my cafetiere. So I search the house for 15 minutes looking for said cafetiere. Ask her if she's seen it to which she replied yeah it got broke a few weeks ago. I'm sure she done it to annoy me...

Coopers Bottles? Good or Bad please help

If they weren't about 20 quid for a batch worth I'd have bought more and not bothered with glass at all. When I gathered about 100 glass bottles I had to bite the bullet and get a capper though.

    Mini keg conditioning time

Has anyone found mini kegs take a little longer than bottles to condition? I had a sample of a 6 week bottled ipa t'other night and found the grassiness from prolonged dryhopping had conditioned out. I tapped a mini keg of the same stuff last night but found it still very grassy. I sank it...

    Bottling stick

I've always found them ok until a few batches ago. Whether my patience wore thin or they have gone down hill I can't tell. Patience was definitely going last night. 53 litres after 3 weeks on nights, plus going into 330 and 500 bottles whereas I've always been 740 and 1l bottles up until now.

Do you find the one with the spring flows faster?

    Bottling stick

These haven't got springs in them. The head of beer closes the valve once you take the pressure off from the bottle. I've got another batch to do tomorrow or the day after. I might just remove the valve from the stick and control it on the tap. See how it goes anyway. If that's not great I'll...

    Bottling stick

It's been going on for quite a few batches. I've got two the same. I used one for the first batch and t'other for second tonight and they're both pretty much the same. I don't know what brand they are, just a loose item picked up from the LHBS. Literally a mm movement will lose the sweet spot...

    Bottling stick

I've just finished up bottling 53 litres. First use of glass bottles and found the whole set up quite fine actually. I get proper fed up with my bottling stick though. There's a sweet spot where the beer flows well. The trouble is it's very small and hard to find. Lift the bottle too high or...

Latest gender pay gap BS could cost Tesco 4 Billion

Nice one! Despite my whingeing about the b******s robbing us at every opportunity I got an unexpected letter with a 4% basic pay rise the other day. Bet management got 10%!!!!:mad1:

I see what your saying Terry and I can't disagree. I think for smaller businesses where it's just viable on current overheads staff cost etc then some government help is ok. A lot of big companies fiddle the tax system as well. Which of course they can do and you can't blame them. The...
