I previously just used nylon hop bags to great effect. Now I use the Flot-it system. Big fan of keg-hopping.

Probably make more sense to buy in bulk to breach the delivery charge threshold.

It'll likely not last as long as if it was indoors, but if you can get it pretty cheap/freezing then go for it. They're not as fragile as you might think. I have one in my garage, but it's gone through winters with the occasional -10c overnight.

Thanks for the links. This is really interesting stuff. I hope we can see new measures of IBUs becoming more mainstream. To the best of my knowledge, I think a lot of this is perpetuated by the most common ways that IBUs are calculated in brewing software. Would be good to see some of this stuff...

They do. Tests are still sold, and used on the wards, but of very little purpose to the general public now.

Perhaps, but I wouldn't necessarily extrapolate that the motives were one of eliminating competition. Perhaps it was to ensure the story wouldn't be buried. Releasing it now has ensured we're all talking about it.
