    Electric cars.

Yes, every time I get an old smoker (habitual Bangernomics fan) I put a can in and run it dry, just to see what latitude I have. Usually takes surprisingly long...

Is the Homebrew hobby in decline?

Back to the original question, I think it's in decline, but only from the artificial boom created by lockdown. I've been brewing for years, but I find my time for ALL of my hobbies has declined since the gradual return to full (well part time, in my case...) work. Well, that and the fact that...

    Using Franziskaner yeast

Hi all, has anyone successfully cultured yeast from a Franziskaner bottle? Is it just a case of adding some boiled, cooked DME solution to the yeast cake and watching it grow? Cheers, Tim

    Best Ever Pop Song

Reward, by Teardrop Explodes, always seemed like the perfect pop song to me, in the same way that Teenage Kicks did for John Peel....

    Elitech EK-1000

Thanks. Wondered if maybe it's standard parlance in the HVAC industry?? Anyway, now have a standby spare STC-1000, and the brew is sitting at fairly constant 18+- 0.5. Thanks for your help!

    Elitech EK-1000

Aaah, I SEE.... Was thinking the opposite-ie heat on above temp.... Seems counter intuitive to me, but now I've set it as you say, it seems to be working. Thanks so much- just hope the beer still ok...!!

What do you think of Young's Ordinary these days? Not a patch on the Mortlake imho....

    Elitech EK-1000

Yes, and set the "heat on" at -10°, "cool on" at 19°, hystereses both at 1°, and the heat comes on for 30 mins or so then switches off. Found an old tech STC-1000 that's hopefully coming today, so it'll be going back to Amazon.... Thanks for all your replies. Hope I haven't spoilt the batch....

    Elitech EK-1000

Thanks both. I've got the manual, and can lock/unlock it, but there is no mention of target temp, or similar. It mentions "heat on" and "cool on" - the heat on set to 0°, cool on to 20°. The heat DID come on for about 30 mins, but it's off again now- temp probe (taped to FV behind a sponge)...

    Elitech EK-1000

Hi, happy Wednesday all! Anyone have the misfortune to run one of these temp controllers? Put a beer in the ferm fridge a week ago, and my trusty STC-1000 wouldn't play ball- the "up"arrow ceased to be!! In Spain, the only thing I could get hold of quickly was the EK1000, which looks as if it...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

LOVE Franziskaner- they have it in my local bar in Spain- a lifesaver, otherwise it'd be Cruzcampo..... They stopped doing Estrella Galicia last year, which I quite like on draught....
