    Brew-system build help

make the HLT higher for sparging, a couple of 3 way valves, and only have to worry about one pump instead of two. Check out my brewery build in my signature. I would not go as high as I did. It was nice because if I had a blockage I could do gravity for every step. Which HAS happened.. and a...

    Herms coil sealing

Had the same problem when I noticed my HLT water was getting a slight tan :D tightened it but eventually just had cut the pipe back slightly and replace the brass compression nut and tighten the hell out of it. Is the coil big? Mine was 50ft and required support on the back side to keep it from...

    ACE Microbrewery

A racking arm serves the purpose of pulling above the yeast and trub layer- this can be added to any conical easily and without fuss. Prices will usually reflect the material in which the conical is made such as stainless vs plastic. Stainless is easier to clean and much more resilient to...

    Bogus Water report? Murphys

The technical sales rep said: "Please accept our apologies, I am assuming that this was a typo, the magnesium is 3.08 ppm and not 93.08ppm, I have no idea how the 9 has got there and all I can do is apologise" But even if that was the case, another user pointed out that would still be...

    ACE Microbrewery

Conical fermenters allow an easier method of separating the yeast from the beer. The shape of the conical allows solids like trub, hops, and yeast to cone up at the bottom allowing for easy separation from the beer. There are also pros and cons to this but mostly pros which make it a high end...

    Bogus Water report? Murphys

Phoenix just received my water, I will post the results along with local water supply averages for my area as well. Murphys just confirmed they screwed up finally and they are filing a refund for my water test through Brewuk.

    Bogus Water report? Murphys

Back in March I had a water report done through Brewuk and Murphy & Son's performed the water test. The numbers I received back from my kitchen tap in south west London: pH 7.19 Nitrate 33.50 Total Hardness (as CaCO3) 263 Calcium 93.08 Magnesium 93.08 Chloride 46.04 Sulphate 49.39...

    Keg seal problem

Vaseline(or food grade silicon grease) around the seal from the inside or would be unfortunate with infection with what has happened already but should be okay.

    corny cleaning

Pbw is amazing. Make sure you remove the dip tube and clean that with a tube brush after you give the keg a good shake with hot pbw mix. Rinse with water, drain, then Starsan, shake, and store till use.

    Kegging for the first time

I had 14 corny kegs and at least 4 were always full of beer. Keep it connected at higher than serving pressure for a week to carbonate it while in the fridge (then bring it back down to serving). Or wait 1 day after its fully chilled, force carbonate while its on the ground at 30psi while...

    HERMS system

I ran a HERMS system for +35 brews and addressed this on every brew by just draining from a point lower than the HLT. When everything was going to the kettle I would run some sparge water through it just to get that last little bit add that to my boil calculations.

    Ace micro brewer

Bleh don't take it to heart quite yet. You gotta think that it's a numbers game. Every product is going to have it's % of failure and lots of people are brewing with no problems whatsoever. I'll admit I have just accepted that I got a bad one but have worked through it and replaced things which...

    Ace micro brewer

Well switch melted on me. Sucks but I think it was my fault maybe? When I reassembled everything I noticed the wire attached to the switch was a bit tight. Rather than cut the zip ties to loosen it up I left it. Unfortunately during the long brew process it ended up melting the back of the...

Soak in lemon juice or vinegar for an hour, wipe- should come right off. If it's stubborn wait another hour, repeat. Comes right off, no hard scrubbing.

    Ace micro brewer

Ive done full on 2500w(no relay switching, full power) and seen people do 2400w (where it switches the relay on and off during). Last brew was 2200w and saw a good rolling boil (with the lid off- I never brew with lid on unless I'm mashing- funny thing: brulosophy did experiment and couldn't get...

    Ace micro brewer

Mine gets stuck at 99C at hard rolling boil. I've swapped the sensor with a replacement from Guten so I'm going to see if that addresses it and will report back. I found that the Ace is not accurate on the inside of the kettle, its about a liter and a half off. Good to hear your beer is going...

    Ace micro brewer

Hi mate! What I would do is call Ian @ Ace Trading. Shoot him an email after your phone call detailing your issues. They can send the parts out separately and I've been told is about $135 US (from the manufacturer). So I don't know what it will cost for you. Ace phone number is 01977 798888 and...

    Ace micro brewer

The chances are slim that its just me and the other guy. But I think just putting it out there that it is happening will help other owners hopefully. I think every manufacturer will have their small percentage of failure. I know hundreds of other guys(facebook group) who have done 8-10...
