    Wilko kit (don’t shoot me!)

Thanks BanBeer and Pavros. I think I’ll run with Spray malt. It came with 30g of cascade to dry hop with. :)

    Wilko kit (don’t shoot me!)

Hi all, Having not made a beer in yonks I thought I’d start with a nice simple kit. But then reading a thread on here somewhere it was mentioned that wilko kits lack enough malt to make a good go of it. Two quick questions: 1 has anyone made this kit before? 2 would adding some spraymalt...

To Dry Hop my Porter or not to dry hop my Porter?

Have you got a second FV? Could you rack half over and dry hop one half?

    Redundancies.

I work for a charity and our funders agreed back in March to keep paying so we’ve worked right through. With 2 1/2 years (+1 +1) I should be ok. We’re going to be busier than ever in the next 12 months supporting people to get themselves back where they were!

Is this going to be the end of the orange man?

But I’ve just bought shares in fake tan?!

    Any Elderberry experts?

I forrage for elders and your description sound good. Have you got any pictures? May/June is a great time to ID them because of their flowers. You can’t mistak the smell! Then (after making elderflower wine and cordial) watch the trees for the berries. You can normally get two batches of...

I live near the beach (and should have called mini Hagrid “Moana”!) so out cars have their own personal beach in the footwell.

I just play around with a beginners session. I’ve been offered a place between the pipes for a beer league (Flintshire Phantoms) side but I just can’t commit. What position do you play?

Nice to see another piper. I think there’s a few on this forum actually. I started a few years ago so building up my reportoire (and cursing taorluaths) I’ve not done Canada. I’ve skiied (and boarded) France, Italy, Scotland (mainly by Braille) but mainly Austria, which is my favourite.

My dad was about 5 hours off getting his PPL when he lived in the states. Love skiing and snowboarding too! Where do you normally go? Forraging probably my cheapest hobby. I took little Hagrid out today and she stuffed her face with blackberries! Anyone into wild camping? I was in the woods...

Yep work them out separately and then add them together (plus a bit extra to be sure) :thumb:

Second attempt - fermentation stopped prematurely?

If all my DJs are full I rack into a large (sterilised) pan clean the DJ and the rack it back. Also (and I hate to make you regretful) you probably could have saved your first one by putting it back in the DJ and leaving it a bit longer. But it’s all experience! Have you enjoyed the process?

Im curious; apart from brewing delicious concoctions what other hobbies do people have? Mrs Hagrid says I have one hobbies. Collecting expensive hobbies. But when not brewing I seem to get hit with things like hockey pucks (I’m a goalie) and swords in fencing and 15th century re-enactment. This...

Be flipping careful with that thing mate, I saw a pro nearly take his hand off with one. There’s after ones like this (see attached) that should mean you can pick your nose afterwards.

    wine from grapes

Another option Rob is put them in a bucket and gently beat the living daylights out of them with a piece of wood. I’m getting some plums today and plan to do this. Or wrap them in muslin cloth and pretend you’re John Bonham with a rolling pin. Then squeeze the clothe with all your might to get...

Austrian Most - best cider I have tasted

Could you use a fermenting fridge?

    wine from grapes

Go traditional and take your shoes off. The french have been squashing them with their feet for centuries. But I’m sure something so soft would give up its juice easy enough in a small press.

    Homemade cider press

I think OSMO would work. You’d need to check it’s food grade. But it’s often suggested as a finish for chopping board and I believe it’s as hard as nails.
