    Ideal. You just need to be careful manipulating the shoots at times as they can be a bit snappy

    You're not that far north, they will grow fine. It is indeed possible to train a hop plant sideways but you will need a lot of room. Best planted in springtime, you'll get a crop in your 1st year.

    Stella was never a great loss (I used to do some work in Belgium and the locals said it was only for tourists and alcoholics) Leffe looks like its brewed over here now.

    Funnily enough that's what my Czech pilsner was fermented with. When I say it was fermented in the winter there was a minor heatwave that week.

    I brew, condition and store all my beers in the garage. I'm a bit further north but doubt it makes a difference. Apart from a Czech lager I brewed last winter I think everything else (elderflower ipa, Belgium dubbel & a double dog kit) were summer brews. Beware unexpected secondary fermentations...
