    Vienna Pale ale

Following the success of my first German pils lager, I was planning to do more lager with Vienna malt. Unfortunately my bar is only setup for hand pull's, I had intended to fit a few taps for lager and keg beer but this is on hold at the moment as is the new shed/brewery. So I'm planning to do...

    Storing pellet hops

I've searched on here and Google and not got answers so looking for opinions I've just acquired 2 x 5kg of T90 hops, cascade and admiral, foil bags but not vacuum packed. When I open these in next day or so I intend to vacuum pack into lot's of 150g packs, it's a mixed opinion about freezing or...

Water treatment or carbon filtered water

A water report is easy to acquire though it is only an average and may not be suitable if your water supply varies. Certain water treatments whilst not essential will help with the quality of your beer, if you require good efficiency from the grains it will require testing your ph throughout the...

    Raw IPA

Due to bad timing and hols etc, I left the fermenter at about 10 psi and 3°c for over 2 weeks before racking off, I filled 2 kegs about 18.5L each and remainder about 19.5L in a polypin bag, obviously some sediment went into bag. Leaving 3L in the fermenter 2L of this was solid yeast. The idea...

    Hello from Manchester

Welcome, I'm over on the Wirral and presently have a garage brewery, I'm planning to build a shed to free up the garage although the cost of wood is holding me back at the moment. I also drink cask Pale ales and brew my own recipes serving cask style, gas beers bloat me out. I've recently moved...

    Low og using Brewmonk.

When I do a boil it's 75min as I think it takes about 15 min to get it properly rolling, also as mentioned by Scrattajack was the post volume as expected, taking SG readings and volumes pre and post boil will help identify if it is a boil problem.

    Beer line cooling

Bear with me I'm not sure if I dreamt this or if it's something I found googling whilst sampling my brews. Basically to keep the beer line cool the line was in a sealed tube with a small fan blowing cold air from the keezer/cellar. After thinking wow what a great idea I've been thinking about...

    Raw IPA

Today day 7, leaving the beer alone for a few days after liquid dry hopping it was time to confirm FG which was 1.010 which is normally what I aim for with an IPA. So I've now added 20ml of Isohop for bittering and started the crash cool, as I'm not in a great rush for this beer I've opted not...

    Dried yeast question

I use Safale us05 most of the time, it's a really good safe yeast for light coloured hoppy beers and whilst I always rehydrate dried yeast, it's probably not required with this strain, also I only use half the recommended amount and it's never failed.

    Raw IPA

Day 4 and I finally managed to carefully get a sample to mix with liquid dry hop and get a proper SG, the Tilt was now reading 1.005 which I knew was incorrect, my experience of the tilt is that it's fine at the start but goes silly as fermentation progresses. The hydrometer read SG 1.013 so...

    Bus passes

I got my local Merseyside bus pass a few year's ago, I was wearing it out everyday going on pub crawls then bang COVID, so I up'd my brewing an went bigger and now have 60L setup and a nice bar at home so pub visits now are a bit of a weekly treat, though sometimes I look forward to getting back...
