    National Homebrew Competition

I would doubt it...more likely to be lumped in with British and Irish Beers if they get combined with anything. Probably will be left alone and depending on scores maybe only 1 or 2 places awarded (maybe none if the scores are not good enough).

    Question for G40 users

I've added a tap...can put a hozelock connector on it for connection of a hosepipe out to a drain...makes the cleaning and rinsing process so much easier once most of the crud and hop residue have been emptied.

So its no use me packing up a couple of bottles of the Dopplebock that I've just finished bottling and finding myself a strong fast carrier pigeon that knows its way to South Wales then?

    National Homebrew Competition

Well I'm guaranteed to beat at least one beer because I've got two beers that I reckon will have been grouped on the same table!!!

I can see some further combining of tables if the expected beers dont arrive!! Not impressed with the size of the tables my beers are likely to be on!!!!

    National Homebrew Competition

That is exactly what I did. There is plenty of "crumple zone" around the outer side dividers that will protect the bottles....probably the best solution in my opinion. All I did was to stuff some scrunched up packing paper down the "holes" around the neck of the bottles to hold them steady...

Advise against bubble wrap is partly due to breakages but also because of the vast amounts of packaging that needs to be disposed of. Remember you are sending these boxes to an individual person who have to dispose of the packaging materials....bubble wrap takes up a huge amount of space...

    Inkbird and tube heater

My view is that we are trying to control the fermentation temp of the beer....not the temp of the fridge airspace. The air will warm up/cool down a lot quicker than the large volume of fermenting beer. At the very least you should be sticking the inkbird sensor to the side of the FV and...

Not to be confused with a 26A, B or D type of Westy.

    Deionised water - reassurance wanted

The only alternative is that they are re-filtering waste water from local business premises....but they would have to find locations that were generating significant volumes of waste in order to do that....my local station sits in the car park of a local sports and social club....and every time...

    Deionised water - reassurance wanted

If it was truly bad then they wouldn't promote/advertise its use in building up water for fishkeeping purposes...cant see them being popular when half the UK's population of Neon Tetra's start floating on the surface of their tank.

    Deionised water - reassurance wanted

I would be surprised if they did guarantee it. Mineral additions to create brewing water sits well outside their area of expertise! The moment they guarantee something there will always be some idiot who half reads the web site and interprets it as saying the water is safe to drink under any...

    Deionised water - reassurance wanted

In my case.. 1) My tap water needs significant treatment...it is the Rocky Balboa of tap waters. 2) Plastic wastage, recycling time, shopping time. 3) Time to produce the required volume of water (I know...I had an RO system - its not the quickest) and excess water produced (3-4L for every...

    Fridge Thermostat bypass help

I control my fridge with an inkbird....I've never disconnected the fridge thermostat and it can go down to 1 degree without issue....just set the fridge thermostat to max as noted above....will easily get the fridge down to low single digit temps. There is no point unnecessarily...

why do you need to bypass the fridge thermostat to use it as a fermentation chamber?

    Beer storage temperature

So...with most fridge-freezers, the main control thermostat/sensor is usually in the refridgeration system. If you use the fridge freezer outside (in a garage say) and the temperatures drop very cold, then the main refrigeration system decides that it isn't needed at all and turns off....this in...

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition

Not necessarily. It just means they had enough APA's to create a table with only one style on it...with 201 beers received and 19 tables you would expect an average of 10/11 beers per table. As far as they can, the organisers will try to keep the table sizes roughly balanced (in terms of the...

    Guinness Foreign Extra Stout

If "over here" is in the UK then you most definitely can buy it.... https://www.beersniffers.co.uk/john-martin-guinness-nrb/ I agree that it is fantastic by the way.
