Keep a handful of them to see if the flavour changes over time. The rest....down the drain. No sense taking up shelf/fridge space with beer that you don't really want to drink.
We've had a number of judges pull out. As a result we have had to add extra judging sessions in the week before the actual comp to lessen the workload of those that can still judge on the Saturday.
We still however intend to complete judging on the Saturday as planned, and have the results...
Even 3-4 weeks would be beneficial.
Yes there will be plenty of yeast left in suspension to carb up the beer when it comes to bottling. I used to "re-seed" my lagered beers at bottling time with maybe 1/2 a gram to 1 gram (never actually measured it!!!) but eventually, took a chance and bottled...
I would start off using something like Safale W34/70...a decent clean dry German lager yeast and ferment around 10/11 degrees.
There is no need to worry about conditioning at room temperatures - you will not get any off flavours.
However...your beer will improve if you can leave it for a...
We used to play a text based adventure called Colossus (also known as Colossal Caves on some platforms) on the schools Research Machines 380Z in the early 80's. Spent many lunchtimes wandering round in circles in a misty wood.
More importantly though. If you do have questions...either email me directly (I've sent enough emails out that all entrants will know my email address) or use the contact organiser button on the website....posting questions in here...I might not see them for several hours. 👍
As i explained last night....its probably down to the fact that when you set the shipping window to closed there is a raft of information that disappears for some reason.
I have just added back in some text covering the number of bottles required and labelling instructions.
2 bottles 330ml or 500ml will be fine thank you
I'll have a look at the website in the morning to find out why the info isnt showing
Probably something to do with shutting down the shipping window to prevent entries from being edited.
Just a heads up (emails have gone out to all competitors)....although the comp website says that the shipping/drop off window is closed, that is not the case. The window remains open up until Friday 25th August.
There is a bug in the competition management software that means the only way we...
Re the ACB comp....the 13th is actually this Sunday.
Why I chose the Sunday I don't know. Maybe I though that Monday was the 13th!!!
Anyway...I'm not going anywhere...so if beer turns up on Sunday then it wont be a problem!!!
Welcome Guy....there's a decent homebrew scene in Suffolk and the rest of East Anglia...assuming you are in Southwold by your reference to Adnams....there are healthy groups based in Ipswich and Norwich...though I guess you are pretty much slap bang in the middle.
If you want to connect to like...
..and no one can blame you for that.
I think everyone said (not just here but elsewhere) that the comp organisation needed separating from the "event" organisation....so that appears to have been done so...fingers crossed.
and the ACB competition!!!... Anglian Craft Brewers & Briarbank Brewing Company - 2023 Homebrew Competition :laugh8:
I dont see anywhere where it indicates that an individual cannot win the Best of Show or Best Brewer prize. There is no way that judges would remotely know whether an entry was...
....and just so this doesnt get lost....
We have just opened up the competition to allow folks to add a second entry if they so desire. This additional entry will cost just £5.00
