If for some reason you prefer figures from the Daily Mail, they report deaths of 40,000 per year: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3459430/Lethal-legacy-dash-diesel-Air-pollution-killing-40-000-year-UK.html

It is happening now. In the UK 28,000 to 36,000 deaths per year are due to air pollution...

Whatever you think about Khan - not much, clearly - the fact remains that low emission zones work. See for example: The evidence is clear: low-emission zones like London’s Ulez work As for it being a money making scheme, as long ago as 2010 " the health benefits from less air pollution in...

Not true. I don't know the source you are quoting, but eg according to IQAir it is 28th for air quality.

What do you do with beers you don't like?

If it was a bitter you could buy some bottled Guiness and enjoy some old fashioned Black and Tan

Were these friends men by any chance? Whatever you may have heard second hand doesn't mean that my wife's experience wasn't real. She left the job after a year largely because of it.

There is a very good reason that migrants are mainly young males. See for example: https://care4calais.org/the-refugee-crisis/why-are-there-more-men-in-calais/ As for the despicable behaviour you describe, how do you know they were migrants? Leering etc was commonplace in the 70s / 80s. My wife...

What a strange post. It may be worth asking yourself why people do indeed take the enormous risk of crossing the channel in small boats. What desperation drives them to do that? There are no safe, legal routes for asylum seekers.

    The Barge

There are two errors here. First, as it says in the government's own paper (which chippy posted), there are no legal routes for asylum seekers. You are talking about refugees, not asylum seekers. Second, we are not second only to UK in the number of refugees that we accommodate. The top...

I meant irrelevant to chippy's 'proof' that there are legal routes for asylum seekers, in that it doesn't prove any such thing

I don't know why you keep posting the same irrelevant list . It actually says in the thing you posted, that there are no visa routes for asylum seekers - I've included that bit of your post above. It also says, this being an article written by the government, that asylum seekers should seek...

There are no legal routes for asylum seekers. What you posted does not prove that there is.
  15. Old Fart At Play

    The Barge

Wrong. Your post lists routes that certain people can use to get to this country, but none of these routes allows you to claim asylum. This government is making it worse, by saying that if you arrive in this country illegally, then you can't claim asylum. But there is no legal route here under...

    Electric cars.

I accept that public charging is an issue for the (apparently) 35% of people who can't home charge. What I'm saying is that for the majority of people it isn't an obstacle. But the *perception* that there aren't enough public chargers is an obstacle.

OK, time for my 'is this a disaster' question. Starsan left in bottles...

There have been a couple of recent responses to my original post, which have reminded me I didn't post an update. Not only has the starsan top not been a problem, this has turned out to be one of the best stouts I have ever made! 'Relax, don't worry, have a homebrew'. Cheers!

    Electric cars.

Sad to see this being pushed again. For most people , the number of charging points is only a problem if you can't charge at home. Most journeys are short, covered by home charging. Whenever I do long journeys and use public chargers, there always seem to be plenty (in England). Scotland does...

Lifting table? (what do you stand your on?)

Ah, thanks. If you ferment in the kettle, do you have a way of getting the hop mush out first, or do you not worry about that? I had never thought about fermenting in kettle before. Cheers
