    Fermzilla question (pressure related…sorry!)

One of these was delivered on Saturday….along with a duo fit beer filling gun thingy. Can’t use the spunding valve control method though if that’s fitted can I? But, I think the Fermentor is under 19l at the minute and I’m going to try kegging some and bottling some this weekend Like I said...

    Fermzilla question (pressure related…sorry!)

Again, many thanks. I am enjoying the experimentation and just having a good think before connecting/disconnecting etc. I did connect gas to the fermzilla beer out as the spunding valve was on the gas post. Thankfully, I didn’t blow the dip tube off!

    Fermzilla question (pressure related…sorry!)

Thanks for the confirmation. I had a look on brew father and it’s 10. Something so rounded down. When I transfer to the keg, should I reduce the pressure in the fermzilla or charge the corny to similar and let a little out with the PRV. My current thoughts are reduce to 2psi in the fermzilla...

    Fermzilla question (pressure related…sorry!)

Thanks for the reply to a rambling post I left the spunding valve open for the first 24 and then set it at 10 psi. I left it for a week and then dumped the trub. The gravity was 1.005 at this point so pretty much done. I removed the collection pot, cleaned and refitted. Then I have cooled to...

    Fermzilla question (pressure related…sorry!)

Morning all I am using a fermzilla for the first time. I have a pale in it. I realise this isn’t the best beer for this use but, it’s what I had and is simple/low cost I have come to the conclusion through and awful lot of reading that pressure fermenting doesn’t speed it up, it’s the increase...

Hop Bongs - Are they worth it?

It’s a fair point. Can I purge it with CO2 prior to opening using a gas in and a prv on the other port?

Hop Bongs - Are they worth it?

1110 mm is spot on from bottom of cage to top of hop bong PRV.

Hop Bongs - Are they worth it?

Will measure it too. Keglands website has all the dimensions on .pdf dependant on which bits you add on

Hop Bongs - Are they worth it?

This a a 6ft larder fridge that was a specific purchase to fit it in!. It’s also the first time ive used the fermzilla or done any kind of pressure fermenting or kegging. I did manage to find a webpage with all the dimensions on but can’t anymore, I can measure it if you would like, I’ll be out...

    No rinse sanitiser re use

Thanks. I have a spare 10 litre fermenter that I can use and have ordered ph strips that cover greater range than the brewing ones I have

    Little Earth Fest 2024

I was in the pub on Thursday. The beer selection is fantastic. 3 on cask, 10 on keg (ish…non sours) and then the same again in sours, saison, wilds, a flanders red and a 15% barley wine.

    No rinse sanitiser re use

Thanks for all the replies. I’m going to stop tipping it away after 1 use I think!

    No rinse sanitiser re use

I do have one of these but am never sure how long it can sit in there. I do give it a swill about prior to use but not sure if that’s required :) I’ve just bought my first corny keg and a fermzilla so am going to try pressure fermenting etc and there’s a lot more bits to adhoc sterilise.

    No rinse sanitiser re use

Morning all I use a no rinse sanitiser (Kegland stellasan) and I have no issues. However I do generally use it for one application and then dump it. But, how long do people keep or use it for? For example, if I made up 5 litres and used it for sterilising the Fermentor would it be ok to put...

    Sour help.

That sounds like a great idea. How long does it take for the dregs to multiply into some that viable to pitch? I think it’s a few steps on for my at this stage of my brewing career but sounds a great way to get what I need for a lot less,’£’s wise.

That’s great thanks. I have transferred across to Brewfather

    Sour help.

Thanks. I am going to use a pre bought puree so the sugar content should be on the package. I did google it and the general consensus seems to be “think of a number and then double it and divide by 2” :)

    Sour help.

On a side note, if I did follow the recipe above, how can you calculate the abv. You will know the OG but then after 12 days are adding fruit syrup. Can you measure the gravity at start, then prior to adding fruit, then after adding fruit and then at end? And then do some maths etc?

    Sour help.

Many thanks. Mrs W has also recommended “just follow the damn recipe” :)
