    Fermenter

It's "safe" in that it won't give you chemical burns or anything like that. But it's still a pH 3 mild acid that's designed to kill stuff, so it'll do a little bit of damage to your hand, and if you have and cuts it'll sting like a bitch. If I need to put my hands in my in the beer, I'll spray...

Interesting that he says that the handles are strong enough to lift the fermenter when full. They are only spot welded on and so I would be too afraid to use them when it's full. When I have moved it, I've always lifted it from its bottom.

    November Comp

A bottle went out to you today from the Secret Volcano Brewery. Sorry, I forgot to put my name on it, but it's labelled Helles.

    Hopcat Conical fermenters

No. Same here. I have the BrewMonk version, but it seems they only differ by the sticker that is on the outside. Yes. The only bad thing I would say is that the legs edges are a bit sharp... nothing a file/sandpaper can't cure. I like mine. @Chippy_Tea just got one for wine. See this thread...

    Fibre to the property

From an electrical point of view, all of the devices are low power, so they will all operate perfectly well plugged into that multi-plug dooh-dad on the right. However, the size and orientation of the plugs may physically block you from plugging anything into the second socket, or the plugs...

    Brewzilla Steam Condenser - Wow!

I think it was the "90ml" boiloff typo that confused people. With only 90ml boiloff, it would imply that the condensate (along with the DMS) went back into the boiler. With the much larger correct 900ml boiloff, the condensate (along with the DMS) goes into your drain bucket, as expected, and...

    Brewzilla Steam Condenser - Wow!

All of that sounds entirely sensible. You've paid for something that makes your life better. 👍

    Brewzilla Steam Condenser - Wow!

    That makes much more sense!

    Brewzilla Steam Condenser - Wow!

I was wondering about this. I'm amazed that you only got 90ml boil off in an hour. I would have thought you'd still get a decent amount of boil off - but it would go down the drain instead of back into the boiler. Presumably all the condensate drops back into the boiler? Including any DMS. if...

    Ispindel help

Depends how urgently Jonco wants the temperature readings. I've sprayed my fingers with starsan, plucked it out of the fermenter on day 1, restarted it (checked it was reporting temperature), sanitised it again and dropped it back in no problems. If it was at the the of fermentation, then I...

    Ispindel help

I've had that occasionally.. Turn it off and on again. Seriously. Sometimes it takes a few times. No idea why it does it. I check it is reporting temperature correctly currently before chucking it into the fermenter

    Fermentation with a long tail

Resurrecting a thread from earlier this year, this is the profile I got this week with S-04 (ignore the gravity, it's reading a bit high, but I took a reading with a hydrometer and it's reading 1.020). A really abrupt finish to fermentation (or maybe a stall... 🤷‍♀️)

    Hot wort to fermenter?

I'm with you here. That seems ridiculously short and basically a licence to print money if people keep buying them. 😲. My soda stream plastic bottles last well more than a decade, get used far more than a fermenter will and will probably hold far more pressure than a fermzilla will. I wonder...

Pitching dried yeast into cold wort

It's more stable at cold temperatures. If you take two sachets of dried yeast, keep one at room temperature and the next in the fridge, then when you pitch them both the one that was fridged will be healthier and have more viable cells than the one at room temperature. If you only keep them...

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

I don't think it's an affectation (designed to impress or sound pretentious). I just think that's how they were taught/learned to pronounce the 'wn' pair. When pronouncing it "unknowen" they are actually pronouncing the w, whereas the 'typical' pronunciation just kind of skips over the 'w'. A...

    Crossmyloof

Wherever it is. It's great to see packaging being reused rather than being junked and new stuff being fabricated. I intend to reuse it again to send my entry in for the November comp (if the bottles will fit)!

    Crossmyloof

And this is why I love these guys. They're like the Anti-Amazon. A box just big enough to fit everything in without being hugely oversized... and even recycling old crisp boxes! 14 sachets of yeast, 600g of hops. All in this little box. Amazon would have send a metre cubed box for all of that!
