    Help needed! Carbonation/priming question

Just want to add my ingredients to the mix! My first batch of Coopers Canadian Blonde turned out ok, used half a teaspoon in each bottle to prime. End result was a nice looking beer, but I had that homemade twang about it and the lager wasn't that fizzy and no head. Batch 2 Canadian Blonde I...

    Help needed! Carbonation/priming question

I'm going to attempt the batch method I think. I think I'd agree with you about the carb. drops, 1 is not quite enough but 2 too many...interesting they say about 1 for 330 and 2 for a litre but nothing said about 500ml, maybe there have been mixed reactions. My problem for my first batch of...

    Help needed! Carbonation/priming question

Well, I have just bought a second barrel with a tap! I also decided to buy carbonation drops DOH!! never mind, they're not expensive. With this Coopers Canadian I primed with just half a teaspoon of table sugar, the result wasn't brilliant as far as carbonation was concerned and no head! While...

    Help needed! Carbonation/priming question

Ha...funny...priming police!! I'm going to do another batch of Coopers Canadian Blonde...I'm bottling into 500ml bottles. How many carbonation drops should I use? I've seen 1 for 330ml, 2 drops for 1 litre but what about 500ml?

    That Homemade Taste

It's been a while since I've checked in to this forum and my original post about that "home made beer twang". The Coopers Canadian Blonde has been sat in the cupboard, in 500ml bottles and I'm slowly working my way through it. I have to say, that after a good month after bottling it is tasting...

    That Homemade Taste

This is the last taste test for me now and the bottles are being left in the cupboard. So, the colour is a light caramel colour, dark amber maybe? The fizz is minimal but it is there. The taste is kind of yeasty, not much, just a little, but it is definitely better than a week ago. Your...

    That Homemade Taste

Right, ok, the kitchen is usually a good place for me to ferment and I've got a digital thermometer so no problem with keeping the temp. The PET bottles have carbed up but they aren't like really tight, there is a small amount of give. I did sample a bit the other day and although there is a...

    That Homemade Taste

Those articles were very enlightening and I think has answered a few questions. Bottom line, stop looking for faults, make the beer and if you like it drink it. I think, however, I need to pay closer attention to a couple of things. Maybe the temperature. I used an immersion heater, it was set...

    That Homemade Taste

First lockdown batch of Coopers Blonde has been bottled and its now been bottled 2 weeks. All the bottles are clear and I did taste test a bottle 2 days ago. One thing I know I have done wrong and that's the amount of sugar I added for secondary carbonation, I only added half a teaspoon so the...

    Returning Home Brewer! UK

Dabbled a bit a few years ago having a good Home Brew shop in my home town. I started with wine then moved to beer and lager. With the lockdown in place it's rekindled my desire to brew a bit of beer, so here I am looking for hints, tips and advice..
