    Cider

I don't know. I'm talking about years ago, when it was possible to but "farm gate" cider, in 5L (previously gallon) containers, "bring your own" if you had them. I've seen all sorts of grotty, muddy, dirty on the outside receptacles being filled up! I don't remember "Gold" as other than a new...

Ban on new petrol and diesel cars in UK from 2030 under PM's green plan

Try these interesting things: G. B. National Grid status (I like this one; hover over the dials for an explanation of what they indicate) https://www.energydashboard.co.uk/live

    Cider

This is why I stopped buying Thatcher's cider at their factory shop. I say factory shop, 'cos the place ain't what it once was (neither is its product, except for some bottled ciders, but excluding "Somerset Gold", ack, ptui!)". I had a big shock when I last tasted it prior to buying (so I did...

    Ouch!!

Have they prescribed a course of antifungal/antibacterial medicine, I wonder.

    Turbo cider

Hang on, someone sensible may be along in a minute, to utter "Balderdash!" :)

    Turbo cider

You'll have to estimate, which I do a lot in my "single bottle" brewing. With a larger quantity, I'd use a hydrometer as desctibed all over the place. So. Find out how much sugar was in your apple juice, grape juice (read the labels on the packaging, it's often written in "sugars per 100ml")...

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

A mug of "'orrible stuff", this being 1L of Aldi cheap apple juice, 3 tsp. ground ginger, 7oz sugar, nutrient & citric acid, baker's yeast, made to 2L on 7/Dec. I've had most of it. It's rayther cloudy, and there's too much ginger in, and it's too "dry". It might be 7½% ABV. I have poured some...

The french method? That's something to do with suppositories, isn't it?

    Cider

Thanks! "I knew that, but had forgotten" (!) so it will go in the next bottle. I'd better do it now.

One for the olds - Ivor the engine.

Good. An audiobook? Perhaps they will make a new TV series if it's successful. But if so, *please God* it does not go bad, like Fireman Sam did after Mr Alderton's time. That was intolerable.

    Cider

I've been making "stuff" in 2L bottles (that used to contain Tesco's "Crofters" cider). I have started to use 1L of Aldi 55p juice, a (measuring) teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/3tsp of Wilko nutrient, 1/3 tsp citric acid, 7oz of granulated sugar, and bread yeast.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Yes. The trouble is, not only do they they kill people, but also cause long-term disability, AND do us economic damage (plus then moan about lockdowns). Grr! Edit: United Kingdom Coronavirus: 1,948,660 Cases and 66,052 Deaths - Worldometer

    Covid-19 the second wave.

"Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said he was concerned the tier system was "just not strong enough to control the virus". " I disagree with Mr Starmer. I'd say that enforcement is the biggest problem we have. Some people just won't do the right thing, and it's these who are responsible for our...

If it's palatable in the juice, I can't see it harming the fermentation of product. What particular juice is it?

Ban on new petrol and diesel cars in UK from 2030 under PM's green plan

Hm, is it £,£££ or ££,£££? What are your observations about winter? I am interested in these things.

What can you buy that's made in Britain

That can IMO only be regarded as "buying British" if the purchase is some thing made or produced here. For instance, IMO were I to buy some of those Welsh-made jeans via Amazon, that would be buying British; were I to buy the same made in Bangladesh, that would not be. Being an...

Ban on new petrol and diesel cars in UK from 2030 under PM's green plan

That is of interest. Perhaps it ought to have a separate thread? Still, I'll ask: what is your experience with the ASHP, including installation, running, comparative costs (if they're answerable questions)?
