    Covid-19 the second wave.

It probably is true. As the article's headline says: "Vaccinated US nurse contracts COVID-19, expert says Pfizer shot needed more time to work - ABC" and in the article: "Christian Ramers, an infectious disease specialist with Family Health Centers of San Diego, told the ABC News affiliate that...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine's been approved for use now, a few months hence the situation should be different. Press release: Oxford University/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine approved Information: Regulatory approval of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca (Edit: Ah, beaten to it by jjsh :D )

    Storm Bella.

Metcheck tells me that my MK postcode tomorrow will be chilly but dry - no precipitation. New Year's Eve may have ¼" (0.00635m) snow. CA10, on the other hand, is supposes will be freezing and have the about ¼" (0.00635m) of snow tomorrow, but 3" (0.0762m) and below freezing on New Year's Eve.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I do wish they would write more accurately. There's a worrying new variant of the virus (SARS-CoV-2), not COVID-19 (the disease it causes). The media has a lot to answer for.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Really? Average 27 in a class, 282 per primary school (source: DoE). So the primary pupil spends X hours "in contact with" as you put it 26 others, periodically mingling with 281 others (to say nothing of teachers, teaching assistants, "dinner ladies", other staff), before going home. To add to...

    A Geordie "Winter Warmer" tin.

Maybe they're printed in China? I notice "we would recommend ...", rather than "we recommend ...", and "when fermentaion has stopped". It does though say "British malt" on the tin. They're still using gallons, which is fine by me, but perhaps dated. Edit: What is the point of dissolving the...

    A Geordie "Winter Warmer" tin.

I am about to do something with this kit. I read the instructions with kindly interest. In them, I'm told: "Remember non-returnable bottles are not suitable". Why? I've always used non-returnable bottles! Is theirs a "cover-all-risk" statement, or is this likely to be unusually fizzy? Or what?

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

    1) A beer from Aldi, brewed by "Harper’s Brewing Company" (what is this? Marston's? Morland's, if it still exists?). Not bad at all Malcolm. Tasty. 5%. Good price, ISTR £1.09p.. 2) A ginger 'orrible, made with 18oz sugar, 4 tsp ginger, nutrient, cit. acid, recycled Wilko Gervin Universal, to...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

It depends on whether or not you want infection control. Given the context of the above couple of posts, of course.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

So that's a long-winded way of saying "Yes", from what I can work out.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Early indications from the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine tests are that the vaccine can reduce transmission. Should that be proven. I suppose you would reverse your stance? If not, why not?

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I'm not sure what relevance "Children and younger people are less likely to get seriously ill" has when transmission is being considered. Infected people in general transmit the virus, whether or not they develop COVID-19.

The EU and UK have reached a post-Brexit trade deal

    How's that., precisely?
  17. Appleyard

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Yes, also true. However, it is the case with other viruses that inoculation does hugelt reduce transmission, rendering individuals mere surfaces, rather than overflowing containers. So, it has not been proved to stop transmission, but it's likely.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Yes. Perhaps schoolchildren and students should be some of the first in line for the vaccine.

The EU and UK have reached a post-Brexit trade deal

If the bbc wrote this, they are wrong. First, our membership of the eu completely, legally, and absolutely ended on Jan 31st, at 11 p.m. precisely. Next, we have been members of the eu for 27 years, not nearly 50.

The EU and UK have reached a post-Brexit trade deal

    1) You *assume* a lot about other people; not to mention, put your words in their mouths. 2) Quite. They actually voted to leave it, didn't they.
