    Disgusting scenes in Washington

Storm in a teacup, whipped up by the media and similar concerns. When the time comes, Mr Biden will be sworn in, and Mr Trump will congratulate him.

    A demijohn bung, or lid.

There is no CO₂. I'm making sloe gin! :) Edit: Actually, I am making sloe gin, and have about 600g of blueberries to make blueberry gin, too, which I shall probably make in a large screw-topped wine bottle, after the Chinese Kilner jar debacle of some while ago.

That's my friend, Billy. Where's the girl next door?

Denmark launches a children's TV show about a man with a giant penis

I used to work in construction, so I used mine as a concrete breaker.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Well, they are mingling! If they can't pass each other at more than a 2m distance, which they can't, even if they did care, they should wear masks! Whether Tesco's at fault, or the employees are at fault, or both are at fault, does not matter. It's happening. It IS disgusting. Again: People...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Good man. Hopefully you won't develop COVID-19 from your infection. Losing your sense of taste must be awful ;) Good luck.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

And? So there are three tills, plus a couple of self-dervice ones, and a machine (?) in the corner, backing onto the cigarettes and (ISTR) spirits, with non-masked employees passing each other, rubbing shoulders, and sitting down to chat when it's quiet. My local mini-Tesco. Yes, of course I...

    A demijohn bung, or lid.

Hope this is OK here in "General Home Brew Equipment Discussion". If not, please can it be moved appropriately? I have an old brown demijohn, which I'd like to make some sloe gin in, from sloes I froze a month or two ago. The top has an external screw thread. I have no cap for it! Can I get a...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Yes. "New variant of SARS-CoV-2 in UK causes surge of COVID-19": https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanres/article/PIIS2213-2600(21)00005-9/fulltext We're about to be back to a situation like the earlier one, and it's almost certain to soon be worse...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Yes, of course I have worn a mask for more than a few minutes, as I hope the vast majority of others do. It's fine. If it's uncomfortable, use a different mask or get used to it, after all in subtropical Japan they routinely wear masks for extended periods, and have done so for decades, and if...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I hope that they were "social distancing". Not being done behind the counter in the mini-tesco, for sure.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I was disgusted to see staff in my local Tesco not even wearing masks on the tills behind the counter... "we don't have to" because of the screens". People should not just be doing what they are told is the minimum necessary, they should be doing everything that they can.

The problem is "no enforcement". Without effective enforcement, many people will ignore the rules.

    Online 26mm crown cap purchase.

Last lot was 500 bought in March, £4 plus £3 postage. Vendor has no stock now. Plain wanted, any colour. Any pointers? EBay prices, unless I've missed a cheap listing, are quite high. I have seen people selling very ordinary single, used beer bottle caps for £1.20! Some sell. Truly bizarre.

    The good old days.

I buy mine from Wales. "Black diamond, large nuts". It arrives via the Pall-Ex network. I seem to remember it's £700 for 2 tonnes.

    The good old days.

THIS might be helpful, and aposite to the New Year: (look at the comments by "Chris", and "User1 Region1", and listen...). This was also the closing song to the old TV series "The Good Old Days", compered by Leonard Sachs, which ran from the 1950s to the early 1980s. I also like this one a...
