    What did you brew today?

Today I brewed a Timothy Taylor Landlord clone. It's the beer that got me interested in cask, and I've been fortunate to have a few pints of really spot on Landlord, well conditioned and looked after. If mine turns out just halfway as good I'll be very pleased.

Busy times from home brew shops

Just to reiterate, as there are people from all over here. In the UK when you buy something online it is distance selling. Your contract is with the vendor only. If you do not receive your good, or they are not what was advertised, or are damaged, you can return them, or receive a full refund...

    Cooling a garage.

If you want to keep a large garage cool, then your first step is going to be insulation. About ten years ago I did this to my concrete similarly sized garage, and turned it into a 2 roomed workshop. I insulated with a mix of fibreglass rolls insulation and foam board(celotex etc.). If I were...

Busy times from home brew shops

If that's correct....... That's a shocking way to conduct business. I can see the logic in that, but it would be verging on dishonest in my view.

Things to do whilst self - isolating

I am very careful with my language on that account, as I am very slim, and always have been, and can eat pretty much any quantity of anything! However I fully appreciate and totally respect any severely overweight person trying to do something about it. I have seen an very overweight lady around...

Busy times from home brew shops

Hmmm, Parcel Force contacted me to ask what was in my parcels so they could locate it in the depot. I responded with "what the hell has the contents got to do with you being unable to find it?" and made clear the irrelevance of that. They still stuck to protocol so I told them and that's the...

Things to do whilst self - isolating

As mentioned I'm still working. However it's interesting to note who is out and about and the volumes. I have noticed an increase in people taking Exercise walks. And by that I mean they are actually doing exactly that. Forgive my blunt language, but there is a significant increase in people who...

Busy times from home brew shops

When I was a young man starting out in work, I had a boss who was one of the 2 brothers and cousin who owned the company. He was a good guy, but expected you to work properly and if you did he was good to you. He absolutely stunned me one day as he could be quite candid at times. He said the old...

Busy times from home brew shops

Just a quick post to say that I have had an excellent order process with Worcester Hop Shop. After horrendous difficulties with Parcel Force as a courier with a failed order, I looked around and someone recommended them. I enquired and they were using UPS. I ordered, and was told that a...

Things to do whilst self - isolating

I can still work, and am able to travel with that locally. That's a real bonus for me, and frankly my daily worklife is just like normal as far as social distancing goes! However, I usually listen to audiobooks using Audible on bluetooth headphones. I took a monthly subscription about a year...

    Too cold to ferment?

As mentioned above, Leaks in the bucket lid seal! I have one bucket that regularly did this, and I only discovered it by tightly wrapping insulation tape all around the lip/seal. Then my airlock burst into life! I don't use those buckets much at all these days having moved to Bigmouth Bubblers(...

    Fermentation temperature emergency

S05 should be fine at 22c. I've not noticed any off flavours in the past.

    Geterbrewed?

It seems that I am the one that fell through the crack, and very few others have. So I'm glad that problems appear to be minimal. Parcel force on the other hand........... I did do some searching on current problems with them on Twitter, and it seems they're screwing up all over the place! One...

Thank you Chippy_Tea, I have checked and refund came through yesterday. I only just logged on here and saw the response. I have thanked them in that thread.

    Geterbrewed?

Ok, I have just checked(I don't check my bank account daily, that's way too depressing!) and the refund arrived yesterday. Thank you for responding in the proper, decent manner. I appreciate that. I also appreciate you coming in here and sorting it out. Thank you.

Busy times from home brew shops

My order once dispatched was sent to South West London Depot overnight! it's the last 3 miles that's been the problem. Being a small company, I hope my case with GEB is an exception. And very much hope everyone else's order get through okay. I think there is a problem here generally though...

Busy times from home brew shops

Interesting, might well look at them. My partial order with Geterbrewed is now stuck in a hell-hole of Parcel force incompetence, and Getwerbrewed are being very quiet and cagey, today is the day I have formally asked for refund, so if I don't hear back from them by tomorrow I will be looking at...

    Geterbrewed?

My issue is the slight allusion to "its shipped, its no longer our problem" vibe I was getting from the emails, followed by the silence when I raised the issue of any from of mitigation. As Clint has pointed out, my contract is with GEB, not Parcel force. Its distance selling and the rules are...

    Birds in my garden

Yes, I remember them in my parent's South London Garden when I was a kid, but they just disappeared! Jays also. Moving to Croydon 7-8 years back I was pleased to see the Jays, but astonished and amazed and very happy to see the Thrush a little while back. It turns up every now and again.
