10L pressure fermenter - small scale pressure fermentation

That's gonna cause a debate worthy of fetching popcorn. Pressure fermentation has its place and like everything else there are pros and cons. I do all pressure ferments now, it suits my setup and the styles I brew. Its worth trying and by the sounds of it you're going to be able to compare...

    Brewster Dominator

Brewsters Zilla....interesting. with the extension kit (looks like it might be around the 250 quid mark for extender and extended Malt pipe) this could be a nice 65l zilla like option that won't require an electricians help...

Some of my brews turning sour

If you have a doubt then dump it, it's not worth the effort, once that thought takes hold the beer will never taste good regardless of it being infected or not. Go basic, do a small smash beer with 100% pils and maybe some citra (since your into kveik) and ferment with a neutral ale yeast like...

    fermzilla brew advice

When I did kits I would steep them in hot water, put a few litres of boiling water into the bucket and pour the cans in to dissolve and then top up to volume with room temp water. pouring boiling water into a fermzilla is a no no, if memory serves its limit is 65c? Open to correction on that.

    Aliexpress - Kegland Store

Open a dispute and Ali will process the refund if they agree with you whether the store likes it or not. You didn't get it so Ali will side with you.

Some of my brews turning sour

Do you know what temp you pitched the yeast at? I'd always use nutrient with Kevik and ferment on the warmer side. What water are you using? If tap did you set it out overnight for the chlorine to evaporate or treat it in any way?

Some of my brews turning sour

Can you post your recipe, process and equipment used? How are you managing your PH, kveik is known to drop this so that could account for the taste but unsure about the aroma. 3 days into fermentation isn't really indicative of your final product, yeast is still doing it's thing. Some lager...

    Tight liquid post removal

Had this before, ended up laying it on the ground between a wall and a lawnmower on the path outside my house, tyre iron slid through the handles to stop it rolling and then stood on the wrench like you would taking out a wheel nut and it opened in one go.

Pitching dried yeast into cold wort

Genius 😂. This is one of those 'how did I miss something so bloody obvious' moments

Pitching dried yeast into cold wort

I don't see why there'd be an issue with that. We store the yeast in the fridge, I take mine out at the start of brewday and chuck it in when I have the wort down to pitch temp but realistically the yeast must still be colder so Im prob shocking it. The way you describe above is probably better...

    Pluto gun vs party tap

I moved from a party tap to a pluto for on the go, what swayed me was the duotight compatibility, the one I had wasnt duotight compatible and I had to use hoseclamps, stepped the pluto down to a 3/16 line for a shorter line length, no fear of leaking clamp connections and easily disassembled for...

Fermzilla vs bucket and king keg

One of these served me well until space came available for a fridge which was just recently, pop the keg in, top the tub up with water and throw in and rotate some ice packs. It's a bit of a hassle but works. https://www.screwfix.com/p/red-gorilla-polyethylene-tub-black-26ltr/723hl

    Monitoring leccy usage

I work from home a day a week and double this as a brewday once maybe twice per month, meter reading before and meter reading after the brew days and meter readings at the same times on a non brewday as a 'control' of sorts. There'll be a bit of swing but it's a good indication. If you have a...

    Gelatine

I see a lot of people saying heat your water to 65c and add in the gelatine granules to dissolve etc etc... I boil my water and let it cool to 65c, am I being over cautious? Heating water to 65c won't pasteurise it unless it's held there for 30mins, boiling and cooling seems safer to me. I'm...

    Pinter for all grain…

Does it have a corny keg type lid or one of the small openings? If corny then hop sock will be fine but if it's one of the small ones then getting the sock out will be a challenge. I dry hopped in a commercial keg with a sock once and spent longer than I'd like to admit trying to pry it out when...

    Pinter for all grain…

You'd be better off with a 10l minikeg and a spunding valve to do the same thing. Granted the pinter has the advantage of being able to remove the yeast cake but a minikeg is versatile, the original pinters became paperweights. They seem to be flooding the youtube beer channels with freebies for...

    Nukataps !!

Had this issue once before, just couldn't get a decent pour from a keg, laid it on its side on a table, put a liquid disconnect on the gas line and pressure transferred it out of the keg into another one via the gas port, tilting it along the way to get as much out as possible through the gas...

Is it getting an external tap?

    Inline beer filters

Was just going to use it on my transfer line for closed transfers to catch any debris at the end. I have a filter on the floating dip tube in the fermenter and haven't had any issues but see no harm in using one of these as added insurance when they're so cheap

    What did you brew today?

'Buddy' update. Pitched wort onto Lutra slurry at 11:30am yesterday, spunding at 12psi 35mins later. Zero signs of activity at 10am this morning. Sample taken, she's done. Will hold it in mid twenties for a few more days.
