    In the middle at lidl

Apart from beers from some of the more established brewery's most of the Lidl beers I have tried I thought were fairly poor. Maybe you get what you pay for

    My Claim to Fame

Not many will remember Olly Flynn but he won an Olympic gold for GB in the walking event in the 1970s. Quite often he would get off at Tower hill underground station at the same time as me. Little did he know it but I beat him several times in the few hundred metre walk to Fenchurch street...

    My Claim to Fame

A local blues club had an unknown band called Thin Lizzy playing one night. After the gig in the bar we heard Phil Lynott working out if he could afford a pint so my friend Gary offered to buy him one and we chatted with for him for 1/2 hour or so. Lovely bloke

    Worcester hop shop

Never used them before but just had a quick look at the website. Yeast range very limited, malt around £1 per sack cheaper than the malt miller but most seems to be crushed only I would be cautious of any supplier that only sell crushed grain with MM you know they crush it on the dispatch day so...

    Iodophor in homebrew

That's the stuff. Yes I do use it on SS but can't remember the dosage, I have it marked it on the dropper I use, but it is on the instructions. A bottle lasts me around 3 years and I brew every other week.

    English Independence

Probably the most ridiculous statement I have read on this forum. Over 3500 people have died because some want to be British and some want to be Irish and your saying it isn't complex.

What do we think about the whole independence thing in general?

I have always considered myself to be English even though my dad was born in Ireland of English/Irish parents. Last year as a birthday present I was bought an Ancestry DNA kit. Imagine my surprise when it came back roughly 40% Irish, 30% Scottish, 19% English and 10% Welsh and I expect if the...

    Malt producers/brand

I've used only Crisp's for several years and always had very good results but a while back I thought I would try something different so the last 4 sacks I have bought have been Simpsons. My efficiency went from around 75% to about 80% there was more aroma in malt forward beers but hard to say if...

The difference between live and dry yeast.

Interesting videos always skeptical of a lot of American videos talking about British ales but these two were better than most. The way they describe SO-4 as always making a beer taste like homebrew is spot on the stuff is total ***** and 100% agree with them that the Wyeast West Yorkshire is...

The difference between live and dry yeast.

live brewers yeast is as good as it gets. When I can I get to a brewery about 20 miles away with a yeast they have maintained for years.

    European Super League

I said yesterday I was disgusted to be a Chelsea fan, tonight I am proud they had the conviction to do the right thing and I hope lesson learnt

The difference between live and dry yeast.

Ignore any one saying wet yeast is more expensive. I have been keeping 4 strains going for over 2 years it just takes a little management. The choice of wet strains is a so much bigger one example to the best of my knowledge you would not find any dry yeast to compare with Wyeast West Yorkshire...

    European Super League

It's hard to say what is true and what is not at the moment but the Chelsea and City story was quoted a couple of times today including Sky sports news

    European Super League

As a Chelsea supporter I am disgusted by the club I have supported through good and bad times, and there have been plenty of bad times. I am hearing tonight the teams with American owners, United Liverpool and the Arse were the main instigators Chelsea and City were very reluctant but feared...

What's the best beer to harvest yeast from?

I used white shield yeast for many years but then it disappeared for a few years When it resurfaced it appears it was now seeded with a priming yeast. I only tried it once and it didn't turn out well. The Fullers yeast works well

    Great service from Malt Miller!!

With regards to the DPD drivers a few years back there was a regular one who asked my wife what was in such heavy box every few months. When she told him he was very curious so the next time I got her to give him a bottle' Got great service after that he would offer to bring bring the box inside.

    Great service from Malt Miller!!

I have only EVER had great service from the MM and as jeg3 said some of their sacks of malt are cheaper than other suppliers. When I bought my most recent order I did compare with other suppliers and one one other had all the bits I wanted and on an £80 order the MM came out only £3 more...
