    Marcus Rashford becomes MBE

To go back to the original post Marcus Rashford came from a single parent home where his Mum was working but struggled to feed the family on the pittance she was paid so hats off to him for doing what he is doing. This government seem to have more than enough money to reward the people at the...

    Sewage

Our railways were privatised in 1994 every year since the government have spent billions in subsidies and shareholders have happily taken dividends. Only one winner here and it is not the tax payer.

Switching from dry yeast to liquid yeast

Never really counted. Using the same strains you tend to get to know how they behave so if I feel a strain is lagging I ditch it. Not replaced the last 2 I ditched as I am starting to think keeping just 3 going means I am using them when they are a bit fresher.

    Sewage

Interesting debate on the radio on this subject today. Some boffin crunched the numbers the companies have given out in dividends in the 30 odd years of privatisation just 2 years worth of that money invested of the years could have upgraded our system to make it fit for purpose. Just saying.

Switching from dry yeast to liquid yeast

Wet yeast is only more expensive if you only use once. There are several ways to get several batches from one pack of wet yeast. I try to brew every other week and currently have 3 strains in the fridge. Have not bought any new yeast for over 2 years.

    Covid - Plan B & Omicron

Last week a commons select committee found deaths occurred because of the government's failure to respond to do what was needed previously. So we are now in a situation where we are seeing 40000 new cases a day while most comparable European counties are under 2000 yet they refuse to contemplate...

    Completed AG Recipe Kits-GEB/MM

Brewed this several times, not the kits as the ingredients I keep in stock just used the same recipe and yeast, and it is the clone recipe I find closest to the real thing just make your water more chlorine forward.

A good recipe of english golden ale

Uses NZ hops and they describe it as an American beer but the best golden ale I have ever drank. I like to use Wyeast 1069 which makes it quite English. https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/dennis-kings-galaxy-delight/

    Preferred malts.

After over 40 years of AG brewing I think I have tried most pale malts. Probably used Crisps the most in recent years but a while back the MM was out of Crisps when I went to order so I bought Fawcetts golden promise and now on my 4th sack very impressed.

    Panic Buying

I was come back from holiday 9 days ago pulled into a BP garage on the A40 near Oxford and there was no fuel and this was before the BBC, ITV, the sun and the daily wail put out the story so although they have made the situation a lot worse this was happening before. Unfortunately I had to use...

Agree it did go across the pond after Wheeler and now we have the internet which has bought about the biggest leap forward but we should never forget those pioneers

So I bought this Graham Wheeler book everybody bangs on about...

The Ken Shales books, I still have them both, were the best around until the David Line books were published. The next big leap forward did not happen until the Graham Wheeler books in the 1980s.
