Flixon Breweries Here - First Brew Cider Questions

Hi Everyone, Flixon Breweries here. We have a 40 pint bucket, we intend adding as many cartons of apple juice from cartons as it takes to get 40 pints, probably from Morrisons. We've just bought some EC-1118 yeast and some campden tablets. Our question is will this method work? Everything...

    Turbo Cider update.

Ingenious. Out of curiosity, if I just whacked 5 gallons of apple juice from concentrate in to my bucket, added a kilo of sugar in and some like super yeast, what am I likely to get the ABV out to?

Flixon Breweries Here - Emergency Update

It will be very interesting, that's for sure. I'm really looking forward to the fight and a session on our first ale! Joshua has a very good amateur pedigree, and I respect his dedication, so we'll see.

    Noob question: My first brew

Hi there, I'm not one for giving good advice, but it was quite soothing to hear it's not just Flixon Breweries that have had problems with their first brew. We put two and a half times the amount of sugar into ours by accident. Anyway, thanks to this forum, we think we've managed to rescue it...

Flixon Breweries Here - Emergency Update

Good Morning from Flixon Breweries. We thought it would be most courteous to post an update to our brew that we tried our best to ruin at the start of the process. We put the floaty guage thing in it after 10 days and it had indeed knocked our yeast for six, so thank you to everyone that let...

Flixon Breweries Here - About as much use as a handbrake on a canoe - Help!

Thanks for all your replies for everyone here at Flixon Breweries. Although it has been pointed out that the beer may not be drinkable until mid June, we might add, that we've got stomachs like themed pubs. We have a question? After 2.5 weeks in fermentation, and we'll bang another bag of...

Flixon Breweries Here - About as much use as a handbrake on a canoe - Help!

Thanks for your time for your reply. We think we've got a Better Brew Premium from looking at a website, but we threw the package away. Thanks for your help. We'll give it 2 - 2.5 weeks then, we were going to transfer it at 10 but that's not going to cut it. So we're already on a winner by...

Flixon Breweries Here - Temperature After Packaging

Some of you here may have heard of us. There's been a great deal of trepidation in our town about our new brew coming out soon, Betty Firstbrew. We don't want to let the punters down, so we hoped you could help on our second question. After primary fermentation has taken place, and we've...

Flixon Breweries Here - About as much use as a handbrake on a canoe - Help!

It was a Brewdog something or other, bitter, and the yeast was attached to the vacuum pack that it came in.

Is that the bobber thermometer thingy? No. Are you meant to whack that in after you've put all your ingredients into the FV, take a reading, and then put the yeast in and seal it up? Nope, not done any of that. We've not used the bobber yet. It's been in for four days, shall I get another...

Flixon Breweries Here - About as much use as a handbrake on a canoe - Help!

Cheers! Do you think Betty will have a better chance of blowing our socks off if we give her longer than the 11 days primary fermentation time that we've allowed? Many thanks

Flixon Breweries Here - About as much use as a handbrake on a canoe - Help!

Hello All, We bought our kit at the weekend and we've a couple of questions if someone would be so kind as to help us: 1. Oh God, what have we done? We had a bitter kit for 40 pints with a sachet of yeast attached, whacked a kilo of sugar in, then whacked a kilo of brew enhancer in, then I...

    Al'reet from Flixon Breweries Lancashire

I don't know if I'm even doing this right. Well, we'll see won't we? Me and mate went out at the weekend and bought a load of brewing kit. We do like a pint, and our music/sports, and our mates will be able to indulge in it as well, and we think it's going to be a good thing. Now then, we...
