    No fizz!

Not really Clint. Looks ok to start with and looks fizzy in the bottle once opened and before I pour.

    No fizz!

No, I do use a second bucket Banbeer. I add the priming solution to the 2nd bucket then transfer from 1st to second on top of the priming solution then bottle from there using a bottling wand.

    No fizz!

No, not normally. I poured a couple of bottles last night and the head on them was not bad but still not much fizz.

    No fizz!

I don't think I have ever kept a note of how much priming sugar I have used actually, I should probably start doing so. It is glass bottles I always use and they "sound" fizzy when opening. Thinking about it, it maybe is hit and miss throughout the batch. I add the priming solution before...

    No fizz!

Since I started brewing I often have an issue with a lack of fizz in my beers and I am starting to wonder if am I doing something wrong when I wash and sterilise bottles. I normally wash them out with a bit of fairy liquid then rinse then sterilise using VWP after which I rinse twice. Should I...

says temp has to be between 25-32 degrees. can't see us having a week where it gets anywhere near 25 degrees in the north of scotland again this year. that ship has definitely sailed.

    Recipe idea needed

Ordered some pilsner lager malt and vienna malt a few weeks ago with the intention of brewing up a saison but think I have missed the boat in terms of getting hot enough weather for the yeast to work. Anyone got any ideas what I could use these malts for instead? The hops I have kicking around...

Complete novice looking to get started.

Garry, take a look at some kit brewing on youtube. I started by watching a guy called Brewmaster Ben who is pretty good at explaining the basics.

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Ritchies World Beers Belgian Pale Ale. Absolutely lovely. Definitely worth a try.

    Disaster

Sorry if this is a really dumb thing to ask, but why do people ferment in a fridge unless they live somewhere ridiculously hot? I put my FV in a cupboard in the house and it generally stays somewhere between about 19-23 degrees whatever time of year it is. I can understand if room is a problem...

Racist abuse aimed at football players will it ever stop?

The Zaha thing, although totally wrong, has been publicised so much because it was a 12 year child involved. Watch a Celtic or Rangers football match any weekend and it is pure hatred yet nothing is said. I'm certain that the clowns in the stands do not even realise what they are singing about...

Help picking out a Beginner Kit

Roars, although it is tempting to go for something cheaper I would steer clear of cheap kits. Buy something good and you will not be disappointed. Go for one of the Youngs kits and you will always end up with a decent beer. You are gonna end up with maybe 35 pints of beer for less than 30...

    And we worry about infection

The more I look at brewing forums it surprises me how many home brewers do so in their sheds and garages yet we all seem to get really techy when it comes to sanitisation of everything. I would much rather brew in my kitchen where it is (generally!) clear of dirt, dust etc. Is anyone of the...

The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

The Secrets She Keeps is pretty gripping and worth a watch. The second instalment was on last night on BBC1. I believe there are six parts to it. On again next Monday I think.
