    Good afternoon to you all.Just wondering which extract kits members have brewed ,that have came out as good as brewery beers?

    Thanks for link Ankou. Would the temperature cause it read high,was 24c when added yeast? It did say between 20 and 25c so not sure that would give a higher reading.

    Yes 23 litres,and took two readings for OG,no extra sugar added.extract bag completely rinsed out.Im not that bothered at moment as sample tastes ok.As long as flavour stays good will just have to drink in smaller glass and less.

    For a kit that says it's 6% and not second fermented yet 8.27% a bit nuts, followed instructions to the letter so no idea why it's getting so strong .

    Reading now 1.007 ,8.27 % and it is a strong lager,going by 80ml just tried, a pint will knock me out .Not to bitter at moment so think will leave hop bag in .

    Hi all. Started a Hammer of Thor lager a week past Friday,start og 1.068.Another reading today as per instructions 1.008,gravity 7.88%. Air lock slowed down but still a steady bubble.Hop bag in after 4 days of fermenting. If fg reading is 1.008 again tomorrow would it be ok to bottle? Early...

    Fermentation temperature for lager. Am I too hot?

    I started a Hammer of Thor on Saturday,stuck on thermometer said 22 degrees,used a brewing thermometer and was 26 before adding yeast.Got down to 24 and added yeast,as it's ale yeast and most reviews say it's like an ale I'm ok with temperature.Put hops in on day 4 and nice eggy aroma coming off...

    Thanks baron.Tasted ok to drink so after second fermentation and 6 week cold crash I'm hopeful will have improved.

    Thanks Steve. First fermentation took 14 days and came out at expected 1005.Will give the second ferment the ten days then in shed till just before Christmas...I promise I will... maybe.

    Hi all.The brewferm wit bier I just bottled has a bit of a bitter taste,is this normal? Fermenter and all other equipment was well cleaned and sanitised and rinsed several times.The beer aroma and taste nice but taste does have bitterness as well.Any feedback appreciated

    If I use fv for second fermentation do I cover hole?

    Some here say second ferment in fv for around two weeks,do you decant into second fv then bottle straight away?
