    Morgans Beer Kits

The Frontier IPA is the one I make most. Using an old Coopers recipe for the IPA that they discontinued. It's popular with my English friends. 1.7kg Morgans IPA 500g Light Dry Malt 300g Crystal Malt 30g Fuggles Hop Pellets One sachet of S-04 yeast

    Yeast transplant = Good/Bad idea???

I wouldn't because..... You could contaminate the good beer by dipping a cup or glass into it. I doubt you'd get much yeast from the top. Just give the other one a stir or a bit more heat. Or add another packet of yeast. Easy for me to say as I always have a few spare though.

    Do you remember.

Oh no not another Keynsham thread! My brother in law worked there for years making crunches. Till they moved production to Poland.

After 9 years would you or wouldn't you?

Brewing a nine year old coopers Well someone brewed one. I don't have time to watch it now, or the later tasting one. But it is a dark ale, not a lager.

    Morgan's kits double up.

I've never made the Muntons two can kits. I couldn't buy them locally and the postage made them too expensive. But recently I think I have seen them in a HBS that I pass when occasionally when I'm working. I'll have to check how much he charges for them. The bloke in that place reckons the...

    Morgan's kits double up.

I make them now and again. I tend to make the Frontier IPA. Not a bad drop with hops & different yeast. I think the two you're looking at are the cheaper cans. I don't tend to use them. However I've stopped making any other of their kits for the time being. I complained about a Blue Mountains...

    Turbo cider strength

I'd say 1052 seems about right. If that ferments down to 1.000 which it probably should. That would be 6.83.%.

After 9 years would you or wouldn't you?

Even wower. I bought my first house in Brislington. My grandparents had a flat above a bank not far from the old tram depot. I remember looking out the window and seeing half built buses with just chasis's being driven.

Random Badger is going log on. Think I wonder if anyone has replied. Then he or she will think WTF has happened to my thread.

After 9 years would you or wouldn't you?

Wow High Littleton. My best friends lived there around that time. I worked at Paulton. He had a house between Keynsham & Saltford. Turned into a hotel. Stayed there on my wedding night.😁 Ha, ha was going to say I've had a few pints in The Star.

After 9 years would you or wouldn't you?

I've been here 30 years now. I have to admit the crap beer (mostly) and awful pubs are two of the things that piss me off. For a long time when I lived in Sydney a couple of mates opened one of the first micro breweries so good beer was easy to get. Now I live north of Sydney. There are two...

After 9 years would you or wouldn't you?

Oh yeah and at least we can go to the pubs. and since yesterday we're allowed to stand around and drink our beer.

After 9 years would you or wouldn't you?

Most of the mainstream beers here are rubbish. No different to the crap Lagers etc I remember from years ago in the British pubs. But there are quite a few small breweries not far from me who do a good beer. I have to disagree on Coopers though. It's not that bad. Tooheys old was one of my go...

    Lemon drop hops

I used these for the first time recently. I put 50 grams in a Coopers Cerveza. I was going to try the first bottle next weekend. I had the same thought as you though, using them in a cider. My thoughts at the moment are. Cider kits aren't really that good in my opinion and others I've given...

    Is this normal

How did this turn out? I made one of these a few months ago and it came out dark, like an IPA. I emailed Morgans and someone phoned me about it. They weren't very helpful at all. I persisted and someone else phoned yesterday. Hopefully I'll have some feedback next week. For anyone who is...

After 9 years would you or wouldn't you?

Don't waste your time and fermentables, and new yeast. Put it on the shelf as a decoration. I once made the mistake of making a pilsner that was a year or so out of date. it came out very dark and was not good at all. Although it will brew OK with new yeast the older it is the darker it will be.

New range of kits from Muntons arriving in the spring

Not really on topic but. I'm kind of surprised Muntons are doing these kits. I recently bought a Muntons Yorkshire Bitter kit. I wrote to Muntons listing what ingredients I already had and asked what they suggested. The first response was "we'll pass your question on to one of our experts." The...

    Moving to AG brewing

My aim with steeping (say, 200g Carapils, muslin bag, w/ 1.5 litres at 70degC for 30 mins) is just to take brewing to next level, experiment a little, and perhaps enhance head retention and mouthfeel of what are already excellent kit brews. That's pretty much what I do. I might use 250 grams...

    Moving to AG brewing

That's a huge jump. Your first beer kit to AG. I've been back to brewing for 6 years now. I still do kits. But I steep grain, use different yeasts and add hops. As well as temperature control. If I were you I'd looking at improving your kits before going to AG. But that's just my opinion, and...

    Coopers stout, brewing short advice.

Well I brew toucans. I put a can of Dark Ale and a can of Stout in and brew to 23 litres. So I'd say you could easily brew it to 12 litres, and add sugar.
