Slight hijack but it's along the same lines, I racked 2 demijohns of kit red wine over 2 weeks ago and it's still not clear. The spot I'm keeping it in is about 17 degrees Celsius. I'm new wine making so not sure if I'm doing something wrong or it just takes longer than it says on the instructions?

I think it was probably a mistake I made. I boiled the muslin bag for about 5 mins to sterilise it but didn't with the metal spoons I used to weigh the bag down in the brew. Doh! I then removed the bag and left it before bottling for about 4 days. I think this is where the trouble began. It was...

I've only done a Pilgrims Hope which is very nice and I'm waiting for a father hooks to arrive any day now to get on with. My friend introduced me to the festival kits, he had great success with the golden stag. I've not read a bad review about them.

The taste test will tell you if it's fine or not. I'll be using festival kits in future I think, they have everything you need in the kit, so no need to experiment.

Well I'm back again on this thread. After lambasting this kit a few weeks ago it seems I have been too hasty with my criticism of it. As it ages in the bottle the mellower it gets, it's losing its overpowering alcohol flavour giving way to the hop and grain flavours. To be honest it's not bad...

I'm bottling mine tomorrow, really looking forward to this one. I added a hop tea 3 days ago using cascade and pioneer. It smelt good before, it's smells even better now!

It isn't as hoppy as I'd imagined it was going to be either, the alcohol taste masks it quite a bit though I think. I actually bought this kit in error, the one I wanted was the four finger jack kit by bulldog. Not one I'll do again.

Just started drinking the ones I bottled 4 weeks ago. Quite a nice clean lager, well carbonated. I think it really benefited from the hallertau hop teabag I added 3 days before bottling. Very nice! :-)
