    BIAB vs Conventional AG Method

As someone who has done both my consensus is that there's very little between the two, provided both are done well. A few Aussie BIAB brewers won home brew awards not so long ago and the beer I made in a bag was only marginally less tasty than the ones I now make using a 3 tier system (though...

    Ringwood 49er AG.

Sorry, I'd had a few Old Thumpers (my own) when I typed the original abbreviation . I'm jealous that you're doing this with the proper Ringwood yeast-I managed to nab some from the Hog's Back brewery, Tongham and it's light years ahead of dried yeasts I've used in the past.

    Zlato-Slovenian Golden ale

This is still chugging away and the fermentation is one of the most vigorous I've ever seen! The quality of this yeast is what makes me feel really hopeful for this beer...

    First ever AG (thanks Clibit)

Great stuff, bud. You are truly a member of the dark side! Be prepared for the taste sensation when you try your first AG beer; you start to think "this isn't possible, I made this!"

    Stupid question about yeast

Haha! Happy to help, you're officially my best student (the buggers rarely listen to me). Have a gold star.

    Stupid question about yeast

And only because you put sp next to it and I'm an English teacher: definitely never has an a; I tell my students to remember that there's two i's (I then draw two eyes with the dots as pupils.) Not meant to sound patronising or nob-ish, just so that you can spell it with confidence next time...

    Stupid question about yeast

I'm especially pleased because this yeast probably made my best ag beer so far: a London Porter back in November. It's the same strain of yeast that Hook Norton use and it gives off some wonderful, fruity esters. Cheers for the advice and help, folks. I've got another thread about the beer...

    Stupid question about yeast

I checked it this morning and it looked fairly lively so it's hard to say exactly.

    Zlato-Slovenian Golden ale

A review of the ingredients provided by GEB: First off: customer service is excellent and I felt very well looked after by them when processing my order. The hops are lovely and smell really good. My only complaint is not the fault of anyone in particular: my hop filter got completely clogged...

    Stupid question about yeast

Cheers fellas. We have lift off this morning (pitched at about 6pm last night) and it appears to have given a nice, fluffy top on the wort.

    Zlato-Slovenian Golden ale

You are spot on, Cheapbrew. Good job I did not order the 50l pot as originally intended...

    Zlato-Slovenian Golden ale

It feels weird using pellets again, I'm used to seeing some flowers floating around. Smells magnificent

    Stupid question about yeast

Am I risking infection, would you say?

    Stupid question about yeast

Cheers, Johnny. If this yeast wasn't so good I would substitute for gervin but I think it'll be the difference between making the beer good and great

    Zlato-Slovenian Golden ale

I'm going for floral golden ale over hoppy IPA, a tricky style to mimic

    Stupid question about yeast

Actually I was planning on using this today in my ale.
