How many are brewing beers which are conditioned with a whisky, bourbon, Sherry, rum etc ? What’s the correct name for this, is it a cocktail ? Do you use barrel staves or just add the other alcohol ??

I had no problems until I brewed my first stout ! Came home to some on the ceiling 😹😹 cat was not happy !( I managed to use a blow off tube into a jug. But then found a Speidel fermenter which has a bigger airlock.

I’ve just made a 20L batch of an Imperial Stout mostly for over the Xmas period. Willing to swap a bottle of this, going to be bottling in a couple of weeks !)

Can only say my gf thermostat is pretty accurate when I’ve double checked, I’m only making 25L batches so it’s a good size for sparking etc

Not today but a couple of weeks ago, an imperial stout, finished around 12%abv and I’ve added oak soaked whisky barrel staves for a month and including the bottle of malt. It’s a copy of brewdogs Islay paradox

What goes on behind Closed doors 🤣😂 At least he’s being truthful and admitted what he’s done, unlike others in his party that just lie and don’t seem to be caring what the public who put them there thinks. How much time have they got left ?

The bunhabain Is matured in Sherry barrels and gives it a more creamy flavour.

The stout is a copy of brewdogs Islay paradox with a re-iterated mash and lastly came in around 12%abv before adding the whisky, even with the cost of the whisky it’s still around £1 per 330ml bottle compared to when I last had a one of brewdogs was £10 a bottle 😳

I use oak staves that came from a barrel originally, they are normally soaked now for 6+ months in bunnhabain malt as it was on offer in sainsburys. A full bottle too 15-20 litres of stout. They only need to be added for 1x week in a secondary to still add an oaky taste. They’d been used maybe...

I’ve had a gaggia classic for over 15x years, no problems, but I have been thinking about getting it a service/refurb if anyone can recommend somebody as it does make some funny noises !! 💥
