What are you drinking tonight 2021?

That beer looks amazing! I’m hoping to get into beer soon Is there any kits you recommend when starting out with beer? I’m so blue collar trash I’m having Gordon’s pink gin with flavoured sparkling water in a pint glass 😂😂😂😂 i have no shame haha.

Ribena wine... what yeast to use?

Happy weekend everyone I'm fancying starting a wee brew while I'm off work this week. As a newbie I'm looking for a bit of advice with making Ribena wine since it sounds amazing! I saw a bottle 1.5 L bottle on offer in Aldi and decided why not! I have some white wine yeast kicking about in a...

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

I’m so jealous! They look amazing. Mine ended up in the compost heap in the sky after the slugs had a great fest over night early on in the season.

    Hello all :)

Has the heat in the loft had an effect on the stout during the summer with regards to colouring or quality? I agree the weather has been to warm for any sort of heavy liquid - even soup. I will try to get a pilsner kit and give it a wee bash and see what happens…. What could possibly go wrong…!

    Hello all :)

oh that’s interesting to know about ageing. I recently had a bottle of the Beaverdales Sauvignon Blanc which definitely improved with 7-8 weeks of ageing. I guess it must be a personal choice/taste with ageing then?

    Hello all :)

Thanks chippy_tea. I will definitely have to give it a bash. Do most beers, lagers and ciders require ageing? Or are they more suited to drink when they are young?

    Hello all :)

Hello neighbour! I never thought The Range in Paisley stocked home brew stuff? I’ll need to pop in during the week for a nosey. And here was me thinking I chose wine which I thought was the easier option haha.

    Hello all :)

Such a beautiful vine! I’ve found this year with the exceptionally hot summer irrigation was a must. For maybe about 6 weeks the fruit wasn’t swelling at all and was stunted. So I had to irrigate and ended up using fertilisers once a week or so to get things moving on. I did read somewhere...

    Hello all :)

There will be more experienced vine growers than myself on this forum I would imagine. I did do a lot of pruning in its first few years to get it to grow on wires under glass where I wanted it to grow along. I’ve been pruning using the spur method which I found out on the RHS’s website. Don’t...

    Hello all :)

Hello. I’m just in Renfrew. I have thought about trying a beer kit or cider kit - Although from what I’ve read on some of the posts about beer making it seems much more complicated than a bottle of wine!

    Hello all :)

Sorry for the delayed reply! It has been quite a busy week. I’m growing Sauvignon Blanc - which is nearly finished fermenting. The grapes were almost ready - about another week would have done them. I had the issue with sunburn after defoliating the vine after a few days of really hot weather...

    No covid ***

I guess some people shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the internet.

    No covid ***

I like most people have had both vaccines and see it as being considerate to other people… I wouldn’t like it on my conscience knowing I’ve maybe bumped some one off. I guess it’s a personal choice of the person not to get the vaccine but at what cost to someone’s loved one who’s caught the...

    Hello all :)

Hello everyone (waves enthusiastically) I’m John, I’m 27 and recently started up home brewing. I live near Glasgow and would be good to maybe find some other home brewers near by to swap advice and maybe ideas with and maybe even some home brew - who knows. I’ll share a bit about myself below...
