You’re stuck in quarantine with only one bottle of scotch

I've been to Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig and Bowmore. Was brilliant so definitely go sometime should you get the opportunity - lovely place and I was sad to only be there for a day.

    Stainless Steel FV Musings

When I'm not living in a city centre flat and have a bit more wriggle room I will certainly make the most of it!

    Stainless Steel FV Musings

Height would then be the issue though. It's an under the counter fridge, so just shy of 50cm.

    Stainless Steel FV Musings

Diameter is what's a pain in the bum. Think it was 37 cm to play with

    Stainless Steel FV Musings

No ice box so zero room for manouvre I'm afraid.

    Stainless Steel FV Musings

Hey That's actually the one that actually brought my attention to it's smaller brother. Sadly the 33L one is a touch too big when taking the protusion into consideration but glad to hear you like yours so much and I appreciate the heads up RE pressure - at least I know. I've never cold crashed...

    Stainless Steel FV Musings

Hey all I only started my homebrew journey towards the start of the year but after doing a few Coopers and Mangrove Jack kits with my rudimentary plastic FV/heat mat/inkbird setup I have become increasingly concerned about keeping a firmer grip on the temperature now that the sun is coming out...

    Brew fridge build

Got you - thanks for the help :)

    Brew fridge build

But what do you brew to? Ie how much head-space do/did you leave for each respectively? Also as a noob, how critical is losing a portion of the yeast during blow outs?

    Brew fridge build

Wish I could say the same! I'm on my third brew and have only done kits so far but: Coopers stout - 19L and the krausen reached the FV lid (but then stopped) Coopers Irish stout - as above Jack Mungrove lemon Gose - 21L and blew out

    Brew fridge build

Hope nobody minds me politely hijacking this thread rather than cluttering up the forum with a new but very similar one. I also just acquired a standard under-the-counter fridge but it does have that bottom ledge making space somewhat premium. My 30L FV just squeezes in but its not very...

    Brewly 30L Conical Cooling Fermenter

I would also be very interested if anyone had any thoughts; I'm struggling to keep my wort cool enough and wondering how effective the chiller element of this is likely to be? Or am I better off making a brew fridge instead?

    A split beer enhancer kit

Hey all Two rather uninteresting newbie questions if someone would be so kind as to fill me in. Firstly, some beer enhancer (Munstons) and one of the bags has split during transit, losing probably about 15-20 % of the contents. Can I still use this since I assume any nasties will get scared...

Starter kit indecision. HomeBrewCompany or MaltMiller

Thats fair enough, cheers guys. I have an irish stout kit too awaiting afterwards so maybe I shall add half and save the other for the irish if I'm happy with how things turn out. Mostly adding it to try and make the process of using a kit feel a little more adventurous in truth but as you...

Starter kit indecision. HomeBrewCompany or MaltMiller

Oh okay. I was planning on brewing short anyhow for a higher ABV so I guess that suits since I'd decided upon: Coopers kit 1kg dark DME 1 tin black treacle 20/21 ltr 20 degrees (I have a heat mat and inkbird) The flat I'm in isnt mine which is why Im a touch more concerned than I otherwise may...

Starter kit indecision. HomeBrewCompany or MaltMiller

Hello again guys I have my kit together and am about to embark on the journey. I did however worry myself slightly when reading a cooper recipe thread on here as I'm making their original stout (with extra fermentables) and there is lots of krausen talk. All of the youtube vids and articles RE...

Starter kit indecision. HomeBrewCompany or MaltMiller

I didn't - and will note for future so thankyou - but I think I'm going to go with my original gut instinct and plump for the MM option. Bit more expensive but gives me the flexibility/the option to see whether I prefer with or without spigot and the slightly smaller volume means it will be less...

Ah excellent, if it's only a sizing issue then that's promising as it seems you can get some pretty large ones online at not much more cost. Would probably double quite conveniently for putting ice in if I was feeling adventurous and fancied giving cold crashing a try

Must admit I'm very attracted to the idea of a water bath particularly as the house can sometimes be empty for a couple of days leaving room temperature prone to fluctuation. A wilkos trug (£4.50) and fishtank heater w/thermo (£8ish) should do it from what I have seen? Though why does the tap...
