    mlf question!

That'll be four of us with dirty minds then.

    hop paste

I read about this somewhere ( I can't remember exactly where though :wha: ), the theory went along the lines that leaf hops are a very inefficient way of getting the goodies into the beer so blend them in a little water or beer first. It makes sense though I'm not sure how you're meant to get...

    Corny O rings

Quite likely, they're 7/8 AF. though I believe 22mm fit.

    Corny O rings

I said no because I've had them leak from there with an o ring. It's possible I suppose, whip it off and have a look, or just change them anyway.

    Corny O rings

    Simple answer, No.

    American Red

    Look at that!

    American Red

Quite, only a litre short (all those hops!) and no brewday disasters. Now to clean up. Oh and I've just pitched the yeast. Whitelabs 051 as I want malt as well as hops in this one.

    American Red

A smudge under 39 litres at 1.046. I was hoping for slightly more red, but it certainly tastes hoppy.

    American Red

Pinching the end of the hose while pumping aereates nicely

    American Red

Lunch eaten and 2 fv's cleaned and star san'd. Wort is just under 20.
  12. keith1664

    American Red

OK, the hops have had half an hour to steep so the cooler is back on while I sort out some lunch.

    Grain Weight to SG

There are ways to work it out, but I'm afraid I rely on software. As well as beersmith, brewmate is worth a look, and it's free.
  14. keith1664

    American Red

Oh yes, it also allows me to pump the wort into the fermenter rather than gravity drain.
  15. keith1664

    American Red

Cold water from the mains run through the cooler, the pump recirculates the wort... basically I'm too lazy to stand there and stir it while it cools! :D
  16. keith1664

    American Red

Down to 80 in a little over 2 minutes. Steeping hops added, hop soup anyone?
  17. keith1664

    American Red

    Elements off and cooler on
  18. keith1664
