Kveik Yeast in American Amber Ale

Excellent! I can't wait to do a similar brew myself.

    Equipment questions please :)

I bought a great serving tap with flow control and a stainless steel ball lock on aliexpress which was very cheap but it took ages to arrive. However, to be honest, I prefer using a party tap. It's easy to use, also to clean and it fits best in my fridge. As for an all-in-one, I wouldn't buy...

    Corny Scales

I just use a cheap postage weighing scales from France Electronic scale 25kg to 2gr ultraship - 55 black weighs food parcel letter | eBay I know the weight of the empty keg, then I measure it when it's full and deduct the current weight to see how empty it is. But I've got a bit lazy and...

    Is my Tilt playing up

I find that these devices just give you an idea of how your fermentation is progressing. But it will be interesting to see if the new Kegland Pill Hydrometer is any better (RAPT Pill - Hydrometer & Thermometer (Wifi & Bluetooth)). It might just disrupt the market with its $50AUD/ £27 cost...

Kveik Yeast in American Amber Ale

Very interesting! How do you store the slurry? Do you wash the yeast or just put into Kilner type jars as is?

    Fridge

I was trying to avoid making a big wooden stand but that looks like the only option....

    Fridge

Out of interest, assuming you had he space, would the marine ply handle the weight of 3 kegs if it was in the middle of your fridge? If so, I'd be interested in what thinkness you went for. Thanks!

    iSpindel

I have a Float device which is similar to the iSpindel but had the same issue as you. I plugged in the API and server address but nothing. What I discovered is that you have to attach your device to each brew. So in the Fermentation section of the Brewfather App there should be an option for...

    Fridge

Looks great. Could you fit a 3rd keg on the bottom there?

    Fermzilla 30L All rounder ?

Brilliant hack! Love it :) Now I can use the ones I bought as well.

Two seals on a ball lock post.

If you use a 9/32 post, it will fit (albeit loosely) but you'll end up stripping the keg thread when you tighten it and then there's no way back. The 9/16 will be tight and that's because it needs to be. For me, I just want to get rid of these double o-ring posts with the 3-legged poppet...

    Fridge

I bought a small 60L Sodastream CO2 cylinder for use inside my fridge (it lies on the shelf) and I have an adaptor to fill it from my bigger 5KG bottle. I then use a mini-keg regulator and an adaptor for the Sodastream to keep my corny kegs at serving pressure. So I only use the big cylinder...

How do you find your recipes?

I use Brewfather and it took a bit of time to get the hang of it (well for me anyway!). But I tend to not trust the recipes there too much but have found great recipes (clones etc) on this forum which I then use the Brewfather app to tweak them.

Two seals on a ball lock post.

I picked up a couple of these refurbed kegs with the 2 o-rings and they are a pain to use with gas and liquid connectors because they require so much brute force to fit them. So I did the same research as yourself and they are ex-coca cola pin-lock kegs which have been converted to ball lock...

    Kveik

I've just bought some of the Yeaster Bunny Ebbergarden and Voss. So the plan is to do a 1 litre starter but only pitch half and save half, and then ferment at 35C. I'm told that under-pitching is key getting the fruity taste but wondered if that was right or not....

    Fermzilla 30L All rounder ?

The Kegland spunding valve is one-way, so it allows the CO2 to escape and no oxygen to get in. I used to use a blow off tube inserted into the spunding valve and then put the other end into a bottle of water (no starsan needed) just see if the fermentation was active. Now I just rely on my Float...

    Fermzilla 30L All rounder ?

I use 2 bags and 2 sets of magnets for large amounts of dry hopping and I also do as you mentioned for cold crashing so that I avoid any off flavours. Works like a charm as long as the magnets are strong enough ;-)

    Fermzilla 30L All rounder ?

I have 2 All Rounders and I love them. Here are some of my lessons learned: 1. If you buy the small filter, make sure you get the Kegland one, as some of the Chinese copies don't have the small eyelet on them which is needed to attach it to the ball/dip tube. 2. I recommend using food grade...
