    Robobrew/Brewzilla Whirlpool arm modification

That's my plan for my next brew on the weekend. I just need to rummage through my box of bits and pieces! I may just use some smaller silicon tubing...

    Fermzilla fermenters

Kegland are currently testing them but won’t be drawn on an exact release date but they did say that it will be second half of the year. So UK and Ireland probably won’t see them until the end of the year. But I’m really keen to see this product as well…

Fermzilla - dry hop under pressure

I haven’t had any issues because I make sure that the bottle is dry inside before adding the hops. If it’s wet, then they can get stuck.

Fermzilla - dry hop under pressure

I almost always just pop the lid and lob the hops in with no issues. But for a NEIPA I use this PCO1881xPCO1881 ball valve on my fermzilla with 2 Tee Pieces (one for CO2 and the other a party tap to purge the air) on top of a 1.5ltr spring water bottle. It might be overkill and it does take a...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Whirlpool arm modification

I saw the video when it came out and thought it was a fantastic idea because the whirlpool arm is a little underwhelming. But I don’t have access to a vice and so I’m going to use either some form of reducer or mess around with smaller diameter tubing. I really appreciate you taking the time...

No worries. Your spending will soon get out of control….it always does with brewing! A brewmonk is a good choice and the price of the current Brewzilla model will plummet tomorrow once the new version comes out on March 16th. I’ve now started to look at European brew shops instead of the UK...

    Fermzilla fermenters

I have 2 All Rounders and I bought them mainly for avoiding oxidisation by doing a sealed transfer of NEIPA’s etc to a keg. They (like the KK versions) are easy to clean and, in my opinion, are a bit of a step up from a plastic fermenter (which I also still use). You don’t need to do pressure...

@Phoenix Ale : You’ve opened up a pandora’s box but let me see if I can help a little bit. I started using bottled water (which is great quality) but I didn’t like the amount of plastic I was wasting. So I switched to tap water. 24 hours before a brew, I treat the total amount of water that I’m...

    Smallest 4-keg keezer solution?

I recently bought a black LOGIK L198CFB (also known as the Fridgemaster MFC198) from Curry’s. Here’s a picture of me testing out a white one in the shop with 3 23cm cardboard disks just to be sure! I can also fit my full size CO2 in there and 2 mini-kegs on the hump plus yeast in the basket. I...

Is a Blow-off Tube Actually Necessary?

For my plastic spiedel fermentor, I always use a blow-off tube because there isn’t a lot of room at the top of my fermentation fridge. I also have Fermzilla All Rounder’s on which I just use a spunding valve alone. But I’ve heard that some people add a blow-off tube to the valve and then into a...

    RE-using Kveik

I collect the trub without washing it and use a tablespoon to start the next fermentation. I’m not how much you would use for washed yeast.

    Brewzilla pump failiure

I had a similar BZ pump issue and it appeared not to be blocked. So I spayed water from my garden hose into the hole inside the BZ and a bunch of grains popped out. Then began a dance of spaying and shaking until it was clear.

First closed transfer from fermzilla to keg advice please

Personally, I wouldn’t chill the keg. Because when you transfer the cold crashed beer, you’ll see a line of condensation on the keg showing how full it is. And I always leave a bit of space at the top. When I pressure ferment I set my spunding valve to 15psi after 2 or 3 days (actually after...

    Heating belts ?

For one of my fermenters (an all rounder) I use a heat belt and an inkbird. But the temps only stabilised once I bought an insulated jacket for it. Now it works a treat.
