    First Saison

Brilliant, sounds good. How do you re-use the yeast from your first saison? Do you just scrape some of the trub from the bottom of the FV and stick it in the fridge?

    First Saison

Hi I would be interested to know how this turned out as I am currently brewing my first ever Saison, albeit from a kit. Been doing HB for about a year and learning all the time. Great to learn about the different styles of malts, hops and yeast. Did you raise the temp at all during...

    Saison - no airlock activity

Hi guys, Would like to get some thoughts on this please. Am brewing a Mangrove Jacks Belgian Saison kit and I am 60 hours since pitching the yeast, just a bit concerned as there is no airlock activity. I was under the impression that with a Saison you tend to get a lot of activity in the first...

Question about volume of water & ingredients

Hi guys, just about to try my first ever BIAB and just got a few questions, hopefully you can steer me in the right direction. I am using a 17L cook pot and not sure how much strike water to use. I am wanting to do a relatively small batch, hoping to end up with about 8-10 litres in the bottles...

    Hop pellets

Thanks Terry. I didn't let it cool down, I just dumped it in the FV and now worried its spoilt because of this. The green sludge just sat on the top so I gave it a gentle stir, again not sure whether I shouldve done that. Probably being paranoid!!

    Hop pellets

Just a question about hop pellets (as a relative newcomer to home brewing). Currently brewing a Beerworks Mersey Dockers IPA kit and the instructions say to add the hops on day 5 and to cut them up into fine pieces and then add 500 ml of boiling water and then extract just the hops and add to...

    question about priming sugar

    question about priming sugar

Following on from my first post as a newcomer, I am about to bottle my Wilko classic lager and just have a question about the amount of priming sugar to use as I am a little confused. The kit instructions say to use a max 85 grams for my 23 litres (if batch priming). I have used the priming...

    Newbie question

Thanks for your comments Terry, this is only my second attempt at home brewing and already feeling very passionate about it. I've just been using kits to get me started before I start on the real home brewing. I will probably be popping up here and there to ask for further advice from the pros...

    Newbie question

Ah right thank you, I was worried about the temp as had read 15-18C is the ideal fermenting temp for lager but as you say not a true lager yeast so you have put my mind at rest ! Thanks

    Newbie question

Hello, I am brewing a Wilko "classic lager" which has been in the FV for 10 days and still bubbling away. The initial temp was 20-22C for 3-4 days which I believe is a bit high for a lager but was due to the warm weather. The temp then came down to 18C for the past 5-6 days and now up to 20C due...
