    Verdant Putty

jealous! finished mine last week. I'm drinking the last bottle of my Verdant IPA brew courtesy of David Heath. It's really good. 1st try and think it could be better but a really nice drink.

    Hammer of Thor - Kegged?

Anyone got experience kegging this kit beer? I'm assuming being a kit (and I think more of an ale type yeast given fermentation temp) it doesn't need to be lagered for 4 or more weeks in the same way an all grain lager would. I've been drinking IPA kits from Mangrove Jacks and others as soon...

    Verdant Putty

How did the NEIPA turn out, and was it the one from Gash on Homebrew Network? I'm planning to brew the 'Even Sharks Need Water' recipe from Verdant next week, can't wait. Please do post the Putty recipe if it works. I had a few from Verdant in Jan, an IPA mix, a DIPA mix, and a 6 pack of...

    Heating Tube for Fermenter Fridge

thought I'd post the early results on this if anyone interested. I went for the Toolstation 40w tube heater, link below, and thanks to @eyuptm for the recommendation. worked just fine on a test up to 23C in a 170cm tall larder fridge and I've just fermented my 1st 23l batch in there at 20C...

    Heating Tube for Fermenter Fridge

thanks for this @DavieC. I've been running the keezer without fans (and without foam insulation - see pic) but honestly not sure if its worse off or not. doesnt seem to be constantly on and beer temp is pretty consistent. have you found it better with the fans? I'll see how the heater goes in...

    Heating Tube for Fermenter Fridge

yep as @Markk says it's to control cooling and heating, and deal with seasons ie I could prob ferment a lager now but in the summer I'll need cooling to c 12degC via the inkbird. so gives full flexibility and better control and accuracy. only worry now is can the mdf shelf I made for the...

    Heating Tube for Fermenter Fridge

Hi all, I've just picked up a tall larder fridge that I plan to use for controlled temp fermentation via an inkbird. Can anyone recommend a heating tube/other heating equipment that they have used in a similar set up and that has been proven to work well? Need to operate in the 12C to 23C...

    Pub quality extract kit.

I've done 5 Mangrove Jacks kits in the last 6 months and all have been excellent, big vote for them (admittedly all IPA but if interested - Juicy IPA, Simcoe IPA, Pink Grapefruit, Brut IPA, Red IPA)

    Sodium percarbonate 5kg

I was thinking of giving this stuff a go and also have hard water, what are the issues you find? cheers

    What did you brew today?

I've just brewed David Heath's verdant IPA, I thought I was in for a big mess with 21 litres in a B2B bucket with little headspace but it was actually fine, nothing even into the airlock let alone through it, and fermented down to 1.008. what temp did you ferment at? mine was c 22c in the...

    Kegging

On the subject of CO2, does anyone in the Watford/Herts area have any tips for sourcing it at a good price? I'm still on my 1st bottle, a 3.15kg bottle and it's going to be £18 for a refill inc VAT, which sounds expensive given some of the posts I've read?

    Kegging

totally with you on this, I switched in the summer and it's an absolute game changer. reduces packaging time from about 3 hours to 40 ish mins and the beer is totally consistent. also agree on the balancing. I stick all kegs on c 15 psi with 6 ft of 3/16 line and it seems just right. on a new...

    Kveik

I did an all grain helles lager and used voss kveik yeast as an experiment as it was all I had. never again, the fruity esters of kveik just don't work in a lager in my view. ill be pouring most of it away. just used the same yeast in a juicy ish hoppy ale and it's excellent.

update - after ordering on Monday evening (yes - 3 days ago) my biermarket.de delivery has just turned up via DPD. Great packaging (see pic) and all in order. Amazing really, especially considering I ordered a small amount of hops from crossmyloof which were posted 1st class on monday and...

Shocker! Tesco Change Their Mineral Water

thanks for the suggestion on this, really helpful. In terms of measurements, did you just use enough to get the mash pH down to an appropriate level of c. 5.5? ie that's your main guide for the total addition?

New Brewzilla Owner - I'm lost!

I'd second what the others have said about YouTube vids and especially homebrew network, I must have watched 50 hours plus of various channels before doing my 1st AG brew which was a helles lager. I'd add that an app like brewfather also helps greatly in working out your recipe, additions...

Shop bought beer in a Swing top bottle

will let you know for sure. I filled my basket on their website, took screenshots of it and then sent via email and quoted him the price it had given me (nice bonus of a 10% discount given the order size), he added shipping and sent me a paypal request that I've just paid an hour or so ago. v...
