    Was that an extract kit? Extract often stops at a higher F G. Milk stout might have some lactose which beer yeast doesn't ferment leaving a higher F G.

    Using the same grainbill as last month I double milled the grains and got 1.040 instead of 1.035 when I single milled.

    Perfect bitter? Maybe and maybe not, but it's pretty good. Last month I used Yakima goldings. Three U S gallons.

    A secondary is unnecessary for most beers. You can add flavoring in the bottling bucket. In most cases you don't need to add yeast at bottling. You can bottle condition any beer.

    I pitched the yeast at 2:30 pm and five hours later there were burps in the airlock every 18 seconds.

    That's good. I liked the way last year's batch turned out with belle saison and C S was cheaper.
