I usually use Us-05 and do about 12l BiaB batches.............there's 11.5 g in the yeast so I just half it as best I can using scales, be easier if it was 12 g then obviously i'd use 6 g each batch but I just use 6 g with 1 batch and then refrigerate the rest and use 5.5 g for the next...

Same kind of thing happened to me recently, i've done it many times without issue but couldn't work out why it happened as all looked correct.......maybe there is a glitch in Brewers Friend software ??

Glad it tasted so good, i'm hoping that the Vermont yeast will not clear................it's been going since Sunday now, raced away but slowed right down now, i'll leave it for at least another week before I do the 3 day dry hop. Thanks for all the replies, nice to get the feedback

Sure will Marty, hoping for a real winner. I only asked because I am hoping for a hazy finished beer and I know protafloc clears beers so was worried my end product would be crystal clear despite using this yeast. Time will tell :)

Looking to brew this one soon, hoping for a thick juicy ale as i'm using Vermont Ale yeast for the 1st time. One question, as it's likely to be a cloudy beer should I not bother with adding protafloc ??

Aaaahh, good point, I was just hoping someone might know as I believe quite a few use the Ashbeck water. I'm buying tonight so if I don't get any help before i'll post the analysis in due course.

I've certainly looked at that very well written post but it's still quite complicated and i'm hoping for a quick simple answer to my particular question regarding that bottled water and the 12lt quantity.........:smile:

I always use Ashbeck water for my beers, always light hoppy styles, and they always come out well but on another thread I was told I should be adding some gypsum. Question is, what will this actually do to the taste of the beer and how much should I actually add, I make a 12lt BiaB, do I also...
