    Barrel testing

Sorry not the roto keg, the beer sphere had the brass valve.

    Barrel testing

The old roto keg had a proper brass poppet valve, I suppose it's cost cutting to use the rubber band.

    Barrel testing

I fit Schrader valve's to all my kegs, but I've never blanked off the pressure relief valve. I put a doubled over length of insulation tape round the valve before I put the rubber band on. Depending on the length of the tape, your causing the band to press harder on the relief valve outlet hole...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Cascade Smash. Lovely just a bit lacking in head retention.

Reusing Doombar mini keg for homebrew ?

I wouldn't bother trying to reuse the supermarket mini Kegs. Tried it a few times, as I wanted a way to transport my beer when away in our caravan. You'll end up with metallic tasting beer ( awful) the kegs have a very thin coating of plastic on the inside that seems to deteriorate after the...

From brew-day to bottling, what's your average elapsed number of days?

3 weeks. 2 weeks. Then dry hop for a week. If I don't dry hop just leave it for 3 weeks, then barrel. Not had any grassy flavour due to leaving dry hops in for a week, think this applies to leaf hops, I only use pellets.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

This is Cara cascade smash. Wonderful, but a touch potent at 5.7%. 4kg Marris, 1kg caramalt, 40g cascade 60m, 60g cascade 30min stand, 50g dry hop. Delicious 🍺🍺

Is there a way to connect a pressure barrel to CO2 cylinder?

I think I'm going to go down the large CO2 bottle route, I'm Sick of throwing money away on the bulbs. Can anyone tell me what weight bottle I'd need, where to buy etc, etc. I have Schrader valve's fitted to all my barrels, so would charge the kegs via a spur. How long would a 6kg bottle last me...

    Brewdog in trouble again

I don't buy commercial beers as a rule, but when we're away in the caravan I used to treat myself to a couple of packs of Punk IPA. Not anymore, it's gone CRAP ! Wouldn't touch Brewdog stuff now.

Cheap kits sub 14£, never again !!!

I mainly do AG, but if stuck for time, and beer rations running low I throw a kit on, normally a Cooper's Irish stout, or a range AIPA. Both these kits are sub £15, and can produce fabulous beer when modified slightly. The Cooper's I add 250g cold steeped chocolate malt, and brew short to 20L...

    Cooling Machine.

No idea how much water it used, we're not on a water meter pheww 😗, but I did use the water that was left in the bin to water the wife's plant's. I did stir the wort about once an hour.

    Cooling Machine.

Probably me being paranoid. Howard Hughes has nothing on me, especially when it comes to brewing.

    Cooling Machine.

    Enough for me 🍺

    Cooling Machine.

I'll stick with this, don't know if it's as efficient. But it works good eno
  16. BridgeBrew

    Cooling Machine.

No. I have a fermentation fridge, this is purely to cool the boiled wort as quick as possible. Don't like the idea of sticking a copper coil in my nice sterile brew. 🍺🍺

    Cooling Machine.

The boil finished at 4.30, 30 min hop stand, then placed into the cooler. The 25L of wort had cooled to 23 degrees by 7.30. I'm pretty happy with that 3 hours. 🍺🍺

    Cooling Machine.

Just done my first A/G in a while, a nice Cascade smash. Trying the new wort cooler, hope it works 🍺🍺

    Pressure barrel cleaning

VWP, or Chempro as it was back in the day. Cleans, and sanatise in one go, but rinse well. Never had any problems.
