Yes you can flash the WeMos on its own, providing the diode has not been removed - all you need is the board and a suitable USB cable which supports data (not all do, some are just charging cables). For a laptop, you need install ESP8226Flasher.exe, plus a copy of the firmware.bin

Progress at last....... All my own fault too :-( The resolution of my laptop, plus the far too large layout of the Ubidots site, meant I could not see the drop downs to set it up to display the data. I do now have it working, my apologies for the grief.

UPDATE.... I am seeing my iSpindel appear every 60 seconds in my main routers log in my loft, though I am actually connecting to my slave router on the ground floor. Obviously because it is such a transient connection, it doesn't appear as a connected device - the part which had me so confused...

Thanks.. It was appearing and disappearing in the wifi list of my upstairs router, so maybe my downstairs router is a little different in that it needs to see it connected for much longer.

I cannot see any way to set the Ispindels IP. Good idea to test it with my Iphones hotspot.

I have two wifi routers, both always on, the main one in the loft, which connects to the broadband, then a second one on the ground floor - this one is the one I have been struggling with, but it is only feet from the Ispindel. DHCP is handled by the loft router, turned off in the downstairs...

On the config page, it shows the name of my router's AP, but with a strike-out line through it. See above where I say it is now showing as a device, but only its MAC, it is not being allocated an IP.

Correction - it is after all showing up in the list of connected devices, but only its MAC, it isn't being allocated an IP for some reason.

In the top (when its floating) corner of the V4 PCB, the build instructions suggest that a couple of circuit pins be installed, it is marked RST. There is already a reset button built onto the WeBos sub pcb, are these pins just a duplicate please?
